Super mom is broken

November 30, 2005 – 10:45 pm

Uh oh… I think my back is giving out on me. When lil man was born he broke my back around the 4 month mark. Not literally but kinda. Imagine ringining in 2000 in Hawaii of all places and sleeping through New Year’s festivities with my newborn :( . I woke up briefly to wish everyone a Happy New Year and went back to sleep b/c I was on painkillers for my back.

I thought this time around I would be skipped on the back pains. Hmmm, it doesn’t seem so this time. I put the lil miss down on her blankie with some toys for some “tummy time”. “Time” was over and I kneeled down beside her and bent a lil and could feel a lil pain in my lower back :( . AIYAH!!!

It was inevitable though, right? I mean everyone else has been complaining how heavy/ hefty she is and how much their arms and back and whatever else they complain about hurting when they carry her.

Come to think of it… my shoulders have been achin’ as well… maybe it’s the cold weather?

Fun or not?

November 29, 2005 – 10:51 pm

gingerbread kit

I was thinking that putting one of these bad boys could be great fun to do with the lil man, but then I realized what a perfectionist I could be sometimes and how I might possibly be very picky and mean and take over the whole project. Afterall, lil man is a “boy” and they tend to be messy. Okay strike that, HE tends to be messy and sloppy and half a**es things when he wants, quite like his daddy.

I’ve also gotta get the cookie press from my mom. Scheduled to do some baking with Mama Toots and Mama Baby, anyone out there have a good spritzer cookie recipe they swear by?

*tsk tsk*

November 29, 2005 – 10:16 pm

We cut class tonight :X. I just wasn’t up to going out in the cold. And I was a lil tired too, so we skipped out on hula class tonight. Lil man wasn’t phazed by it, not one bit. Hope we didn’t miss out on anything good. Lil miss wasn’t being too nice anyhow.

So I changed the table cloth and swapped out the “fall” wreaths for my Christmas one. I wanted to wrap the few gifts we have right now, but lil miss wasn’t having it. I need to start putting away some of the “baby gear” strewn about the house, as she’s reaching some “weight limits”.

Last night’s slumber was better than the previous night’s. Ooh wee that vapor thing sure is strong… I mean it’s still going right now and my nose is tingly. According to the box, it’s supposed to last 8 hours… it’s been 24 and the vapors are still circulating. It’s totally my fault that she’s sick though, a friend reminded me that I took her out in the cold and rain late at night for some BF shopping. It was inevitable though, right? S is sick and I had my coughy cough that I can’t seem to shake. It sucks… it’s always itchy.

Yee haw, I get to sleep in and not get up in the cold tomorrow. It’s Wednesday ;) . I still gotta wake up though b/c I have to register for my brother’s classes, he has a doctor’s appointment during his scheduled time. Damn him!!!

Pitter patter

November 28, 2005 – 10:05 pm

Of raindrops.. the rain came earlier than Wednesday. I don’t mind though. Her little sniffle has emerged to full on boogertown :( . Everyime she sneezes, the snots just shoot out.

Hey I’m watching How I Met Your Mother, well actually not watching it, it’s just on… and I just realized it’s “Winnie Cooper” on. Remember her and Kevin Arnold? And the glasses? And the “Have a swell summer.” Bueller? Bueller? Anyone out there hearing me? “What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me?” I loved the “Wonder Years”. Can you tell? I’m totally dating myself but what the hell, some of you were probably just in diapers. Anyhow whatever happened to Dani.ca McKellar (sp?), isn’t she another one of those that went off to college, like “Blossom”, and got some huge brainiac degree?

Okay back to your scheduled programming… as I was saying, the rain is here and boogers are everywhere. I put one of these bad boys in and hopefully it’ll help the lil miss breath a lil easier tonight. She kept waking up last night b/c she couldn’t breath through her lil nose. It’s been plugged in for roughly an hour and a half and I can feel the tingles in my nose. She’s also sleeping in a bag… LMAO. Not really, you can save your calls to CPS on me. It’s one of those blanket sleeper type things where her feet are together at the bottom. I love it :) !!! I just need to get her some baby vapor cream.

Stay healthy, warm, and dry y’all!!!

Chilly

November 27, 2005 – 10:21 pm

Is it finally getting cold up in huuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrr??? I quite think so, thank goodness I put on the extra comforter the other day when I changed the beddings. Lil man could use some more footie jammies b/c I often find him uncovered in the middle of the night. Unfortunately the lil miss has a runny nose now. Boo. I still have a phlegmy cough and big mister has been having the sickie ickies for a few days now… so it was inevitable, right? Now all I need is the lil man to come down with something.

I have no intentions of turning on the heater anytime soon. Or at least I’m hoping not to.

The rains are supposed to come again on Wednesday. I like the cold and the rain, the only thing I dislike is having to get up in the morning. It’s so hard when it’s cold but the bed is so warm with the blankies.

Caramelized Onion Dip

November 26, 2005 – 8:38 pm

and before I forget…

Caramelized Onion Dip

Ingredients:
2 large yellow onions
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup good mayonnaise

Cut the onions in half, and then slice them into 1/8-inch thick half-rounds. (You will have about 3 cups of onions) Heat the butter and oil in a large sauté pan on medium heat. Add the onions, salt, and pepper and sauté for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 20 more minutes, until the onions are browned and caramelized. Allow the onions to cool.
Place the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and beat until smooth. Add the onions and mix well.

Taste for seasonings.
Serve at room temperature.
Goes well with chips, crackers, and even veggies!!!
ENJOY!!!!

It’s Saturday night

November 26, 2005 – 8:27 pm

Just me and the keiki.. the big mister left for work… yet again. Enchilada casserole in the oven, thank goodness there was enough chicken to make 2. And good thing I didn’t bring both of them over to Turkey dinner :) . So we’re having that for the next two days and once that comes out of the oven me and the lil man are breaking out some cookie dough and making those too :P . *oink, oink*

Liz.zie McG.uire movie on in half on Dis.ney Channel, yeah we have it on DVD, but there’s something about watching it with the commercials. LMAO. We watched Nati.onal Tre.asure earlier, I forgot I like that movie :)

I’m thinking I’ll make spaghetti tomorrow, so we can have that on Monday. Pasghetts always tastes better the next day. I can’t get over how CUTE some of the pictures from today came out!!! Eek, I’m so giddy I’m feeling gigil!!!

The Saturday after

November 26, 2005 – 5:46 pm

So I spent most of yesterday in and out of sleep. Funny how events like Thursday night/ Friday morning can do that to you. I was loopy all day yesterday and sleep was what I wanted :D .

Today the big mister had to go into work early again so I decided to haul arse and bring the keiki in to take their Christ.mas pictures :D . YAY!!!! Got an appointment at Penney’s and the pictures of the 2 came out okay, and 2 of the solo shots of the lil miss were too adorable so I think I got 5 sheets total, in 8x10 size. Those should be ready on the 8th, which gives me time to do some photoshopping and what not. We walked the mall a bit and I used my 3 free sheets at Kidd.ie Kan.dids too, the shots of the 2 of them came out better there, well 2 of the shots anyhow :) . I’m so happy to have gotten those out of the way. Now it’s a matter of bringing them back to take pictures with Santa. I want to take them where lil man has been taking them for the past years b/c Mrs Claus is there too :) . I was thinking of taking them to Pic,ture People too, just to see how the pictures come out with their props. I only have to pay if I decide to buy.

We had lunch and dessert at the mall. I still ♥ Coldston.e’s Banana Caramel Crunch. YUMMO :P . We came home and the big mister was home, I told him I wanted to check out the open house across the street, so we made it a family affair. We like it and it’s got a better view than our house. It’s also got 2 more bathrooms than us!!!

So yeah just hangin for the rest of the night. Ya know, the mall wasn’t so bad either. I think it was filling up though b/c when we got there we found a parking space quickly, when we came out people were circling and following us around.

*yawns and stretches*

November 25, 2005 – 1:03 pm

I can’t believe I’m up already!!! Tis nearly 12PM. We got home roughly at 5:30AM, we might as well have stayed out there, as other stores were just opening when we were coming home.

We made the 1.5 hour drive out to Gilroy outlets for the Midnight Madness Sale. A handful of the stores were open and we didn’t think THAT many people would be out there. We were parked and ready to go at approximately 11:56PM, the exit getting to the lots was backed up. OH NO!!!! I guess we weren’t the only psychotic ones in the bunch?

Got some good deals. Not too much for my own keiki :( . But I did get a lot of gifts out of the way :) . Finally got the lil miss’s Christmas outfit. Whew!!! I was getting worried there for a minute.

Lines galore, spent the most time in line at the Ga.p, 1.5 hours. Yeah we’re wierd. Lil miss was such a great trooper. Of course she slept the way down. Woke up halfway through the adventure and fell back asleep during our 1.5 hour stint in line and slept the whole way home. I was up nearly 24 hours and was fading fast.

And all this running to and from and line hopping was all done in the rain. Where the hell did the rain come from? Good thing it wasn’t pouring rain otherwise it would have made for a bad shopping experience.

I called my mom to see where she and the lil man were. They were barely making it out and were at their first stop. She said there was NOTHING left. Well what was she expecting??? Considering she was nearly 5 or 6 HOURS behind the rest??? Oh well… there’s a few other places I would want to go, but I’m just not bothering. Of the $200 I had when I left the house, there is a few dollars and some change, but I do have 4 or 5 bags full of stuff to show for it. More than likely I’ll be napping here and there for the remainder of the day. Now if only I had some leftover turkey for my sammich :( .

Open, open, open

November 24, 2005 – 9:32 pm

Psychotic. Yes, just put a huge P on my forehead b/c I was convinced to go out at midnight to shop!!! Yes me who was complaining about waking at the ass crack of dawn to do some Black Friday shopping. Forget sleeping. HA. Which reminds me I need to make my list of people to buy for and sizes!!! I’ve got one gift down, I thinks… got it awhile ago.

Turkey Day is coming to a close. Dinner at my ‘rents was YUMMO!!! I love mamas homemade mashed ‘taters. I ended up making piggies in a blankie, pan fried caramelized onion dip, and chicken enchilada casserole. I didn’t get to bring home any leftover turkey for sammiches though :( , there was hardly any left to make one sammich. Fooey.

Oky doky must get some rest before we hit the road for some shopping :) . Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving y’all

November 24, 2005 – 8:30 am

Princess for a day

November 22, 2005 – 11:43 pm

Got an email from a friend who has volunteered for The Princ.ess Pr.oject by donating dresses and her time. Well it’s soon to be that time and they are recruiting people, dresses, help, and moola for next year’s event already, if you’re interested in helping… check them out!!!

How cute is this???

November 21, 2005 – 10:26 pm

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I love it!!! I want it :D . I saw it while perusing the miscellaneous kitchen appliances in Tar-get today with my mom. I actually saw it at the San.rio store awhile ago, along with the toaster but I want this waffle maker!!! How f’in cute would that be to have Hell.o Ki.tty waffles. EEEK :) . The website is listing it at $39.99. Strange… b/c in store it was $19.99. I’m thinking maybe I should have snagged it then. I put it on the wishlist for the exchange with the girls, but whoever has me probably won’t get it for me b/c they refuse to aid in my addiction to the pretty kitty, hell she’s been my friend for a LONG time!!!

Help me? PLEASE!

November 21, 2005 – 10:04 pm

So me and the big mister swapped Power.books. He got the one with the bigger harddrive b/c he needs it for work. But now I can’t access my iPhoto pictures :( and that’s what I use the computer for other than the i’net. So I was wondering if anyone out there had a copy of Tiger to share :) or iLife ‘05? This PB is running on iLife04. PLEASE, I’ll be your best friend :D

Ray Ray book signing

November 21, 2005 – 9:53 pm

OOh thanks again to Bern for letting me know that Ray Ray is coming for another book signing!!! I would sooooo love to get the 365 cookbook and have it signed. Then it can join the other 2 cookbooks that we got last time. I’m certainly adding to my collection of signed cookbooks ;) . My mom brought me a Sam Choy one with an autograph for my birthday this year :) . I would love a Martha one too… woo!!!! Maybe I can get Mama Toots to come with again to the ones that are earlier in the day… how ’bout it Mama Toots???

Set your TiVO

November 20, 2005 – 10:33 pm

Thanks to ms 6, I went and set my T.iVO. Oprah Monday and Wednesday. Monday is the Favorite Things Episode and Wednesday is a show with my fave Ray Ray ;)

*cough cough*

November 20, 2005 – 9:39 am

AAACK, amidst all this lovely, and strange, weather were having at the moment, I have managed to catch something. *cough, cough* Itchy, scratchy, phlegmy throat. YUCK. Hopefully no one catches it!!!

Big mister is stealing the bigger hard drive powerbook :( , so I am spending my morning taking out my pictures from iPhoto, I’ve BEEN needing to back them up on CD anyhow… sheesh I’m bad!!! What other plans do I have for today??? Homework with lil man, read the Sunday paper, and just loaf.

Oh yeah and back to the weather… uhm, hello?!?!?! 70s and 80s in the month of November??? Scared to say it… heck even think it, but it’s always been thought of as earth.quake weather when it gets hot like this. Or is there an El Nino coming on??? It’s nearly Thanksgiving and we’re breaking out the shorts and tank tops again.

Black Friday STEALS

November 16, 2005 – 10:57 pm

The turkey hasn’t even been cooked. The taters haven’t been mashed… but Black Friday Steals have been listed already.

Anyone have their plan of action all mapped out? I remember doing it ONE year and that was that. Never again, I went with MD MDC at the ass crack of dawn to TRU and lined up with all the other psy.chos for some early bird shopping. CRRRRAAAAAAZZZZZZIIIIIIIINEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ensued!!!! I haven’t made ONE dent in the shopping list, I know I need to get up on it… and soon. Anyone care for homemade gifts? Yeah I didn’t think so. When I would find the time to do it is beyond me as well.

Bread pudding

November 16, 2005 – 9:42 pm

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

INGREDIENTS:
8 slices bread of your choice (or about 4 cups cubed bread)
1/2 cup raisins
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Break bread into small pieces into an 8 inch square baking pan. Sprinkle with raisins (I soaked the raisins in cranberry juice to plump them up a bit).
In a medium mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Beat until well mixed. Pour over bread. Be sure to press down bread so every piece is soaked in the custard.
Bake in oven for 45 minutes. Make sure it’s set, not jiggly, but don’t overcook.
Serve hot or cold. Plain or with whipped cream or ice cream.
YUMMO ;)

Smells so good

November 16, 2005 – 3:02 pm

*WBC update on keiki site*

Baby N is knocked out so I got to make some bread pudding :P . The house is smelling so delish right now…. mmmm cinnamon!!! I’ll have to take a photo and share the recipe once it’s done. Hopefully I’ll remember to do that before someone digs in.

I’ve got a crapload of magazines sitting next to me that I want to look at.

Bern mentioned something about checking out Ray Ray’s 365 cookbook, and I’ve been meaning to peep that out too. I actually want to get my mom the Mar.tha Stew.art cookbook that recently came out, baking handbook or something. I’m hoping we can give that to her for Christmas, so hopefully she does NOT buy it for herself. H, if you’re reading this you better not take my idea!!! I also remember seeing around the ‘net someone had a Border’s coupon for 30% off cookbooks. Must go find that again.

The oven timer is beeping at me…

Hump Day

November 16, 2005 – 11:20 am

*updated keiki site

This morning was family breakfast day at J’s school to kick off the Sch.olastic Book Fair. Remember now he has been banned from purchasing toys until Christmas. Oh and believe that he’s tried with all his might to get me to buy him something when we’re at Tar.get, but I’ve held strong. Books though are such a weakness only b/c he loves to read and I am more than willing to help him on his quest to build and strengthen that big brain of his :D . He was being a lil butthead this morning though and I threatened to tell him we wouldn’t even go and look this morning and he wasn’t allowed to buy anything.

Yeah, yeah I caved in *shakes head*. He got 2 books. One to read to his sister and one about animals, spent $7.56 with tax.

What else are we doing today? N’s 4 month WBC is today, on her 4 month bday ;) . Update at keiki later, if she allows it.

I’m also hoping to make some bread pudding. YUMMO :P . Funny thing is I’ve been thinking about making some, it’s the weather and the season I suppose… but my friend C beat me to it. She shared a piece with me and I inhaled it. She told me to heat it up. NOT, I inhaled it. So I got some extra bread and some fixxins and guess what I’ll be doing today???

Banned

November 14, 2005 – 11:23 pm

Whilst standing amidst the snacks that clutter the kitchen counter, I have thus vowed to NOT purchase any snacks until those are all G.O.N.E. AIYAH!!! Yes, I am punishing myself but it’s all for the better. It needs to be done. Most especially the chips. My weakness. I’d give my firstborn away for a truckload of chips. Ahahaha… okay maybe not ;) but you catch my drift?!?!?!? Chips are so much my weakness that I have passed on the evil trait to the lil man, he is the “chipmaster”.

I also need to purge the cupboards as we’ve got snacky foods that have met their death and are probably well past their due date. But that also means attacking the canned goods that can be donted.

I did a wee bit of cleaning today. Cleaned up the spare bedroom/ my closet/ baby N’s room/ office space to the best of my ability. Not ideally how it is supposed to look, but hey there is more walking/ standing/ sitting space in there and not just a path to walk through :D . Yeah it’s that bad in there, but what do you expect for a multipurpose location? I also broke out the vacuum cleaner and got what I could with that. The dining room tablecloth can also be seen, as I removed the majority of the clutter there as well.

I told you we’re pack rats. It sucks!!!!

Another good excuse

November 14, 2005 – 4:30 pm

… to take the kids lil man to Chu.ck E. Chee.se.. free tokens!!!! It says nothing about eating there, b/c we all know their pizza is junk, although their salad bar isn’t bad. We’ll see. Thought I’d share the wealth. Maybe during Christmas break or something, since my niece will be around too.

Hello Monday

November 14, 2005 – 4:15 pm

The weather is absolutely lovely out there. Baby N’s WBC has been postponed til Wednesday. I’m cooking dinner tonight, I haven’t made dinner in awhile *shakes head*. YUMMAY, Jo.sh Duh.amel :D is on Mar.tha right now and he’s putting on a duvet cover with her. Muahahaha.

What’s on the menu inihaw baboy which is BBQ pork, but I’m not busting out the grill b/c that’s too much work. I’m putting it in the oven to cook. Lil man has been requesting asparagus for awhile, can you believe that??? He requested VEGETABLES!!!! Oh yes and let’s not forget rice.

So yeah not much going on over here today. How about you?

A good excuse

November 14, 2005 – 12:01 am

Is not having any more detergent a good excuse to not do laundry?

Ahaha… of course it is :) . Unforunately, I feel like not having any detergent is like not having any water in this house. Especially with the amount of laundry I do here. Thankfully I got most of the laundry out of the way so no one will be wearing anything repetitively. Hopefully not too much piles up before we get some detergent.

Like I told Moni.ca, I was looking for coupons. Unfortunately this week there was only 1 booklet in the Sunday paper and nothing worth breaking the scissors out for. I think I saw in the Ta.rget ad though something on sale.

Oh yeah… and the news is blowing up all over about M.ySp.ace. I had an account but did nothing with it. It’s funny to see that my nephew has one though. Apparently it’s the new “IT” Thing. It gets more hits than g.oogle. LMAO.

Ooh and I’m quite flattered :D . I’m getting “hits” and comments here from people I don’t know/ I don’t follow. And they’ve actually been nice/ informative comments *waves to new readers*. Now PLEASE b/c I’ve said this, do NOT feel like you can say anything you damn well PLEASE here. I have the right to erase anything I find offensive to ME or any of my readers or my content. Like Bam.bi’s mama said, “If you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

I wanna see it

November 11, 2005 – 11:44 pm

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I remember one late night the mister and I were looking at movie trailers online and I remember coming across this one. I’m big on Asian flicks. Two of my faves are “Eat, drink, man, woman” and “Wedding Banquet”, which of course are in the DVD library :D . Although I’ve never seen “Saving Face”, just from seeing the trailer and reading the synopsis this will have to join the library. There’s some hot chicks in this flick too ;) .

Hello Friday

November 11, 2005 – 9:33 pm

For those of you who requested the coupon, I sent it from my Y.ahoo account. Hopefully it got to you, if it didn’t you might want to check your S.PAM. folder. I went today with the keiki and Mama Toots and Tootles, I’m really debating on getting the lil missy’s Christmas outfit. I quite like this ensemble. It would go sooooo well with her lil black shoesies :) . Total cost for the whole thing quoted on the site is $53.47, which isn’t bad considering that doesn’t account for the 30% off either. Decisions, decisions?!?!?! Mama Toots kept saying that it is her 1st Christmas too. LoL… we shall see.

Plans for the weekend? None really. Was trying to get together with my college roomies for tomorrow, but they never got back to me. Big mister is working a wedding.

I need to get to the store and get some laundry detergent… b/c guess what I’m doing AGAIN???

Have a wonderful weekend everyone :D

Gymboree coupon- 30% off your entire purchase

November 9, 2005 – 10:48 pm

If you’d like the coupon please leave a comment with your email. For some reason my gmail isn’t sending out. It’s an AWESOME savings.

Ray Ray Mag

November 9, 2005 – 9:57 pm

[8:40pm] Okay first I find out 2 months later that she weds and now I find out from my mom of all people that she has a magazine!!! Wow!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Of course, I had to steal it from her, it’s on loan until tomorrow. I’ve looked through the first few pages and I love it already. Anyone out there want to get me a subscription for Chr.istmas :D ?!?!?!
