Ohana Sunday

April 30, 2006 – 10:02 pm

We spent the day, enjoying the weather. Well kinda. We met up with some friends and took all the keiki swimming. It was crowded, everyone had the same idea as us… go figure. Heh. The weather was so lovely that the lil miss had “summer feet” today. I loves me some “summer feet”. A phrase that the big mister and I have coined to be baby feets without shoes or socks!

I love this weather and I seriously hope it lasts awhile.

After swimming, we made it over to Chevy’s to celebrate C’s 4th birthday. Fun, fun, fun… and the evening ended with tv watching and laundry.

A lovely weekend. We didn’t do much but it was time well spent.

A night out with the ladies

April 28, 2006 – 10:04 pm

I just got home from an evening out with the ladies. We were celebrating 2 birthdays, J and T. Dinner at Alamo Square Grill in the city and dessert at Mitchell’s. I am super duper stuffed, but a good kinda stuffed ;) . The keiki stayed with my ‘rents and apparently they had a good night as well b/c the lil miss only woke once in the whole transfer process and is STILL sleeping. She didn’t even need a night cap!!!

Sorry the camera never left the bag… too much good conversation :D , lots and lots of loud talking and laughter. I hate to admit this but sometimes I don’t like hanging out with this group of friends but I’m glad that I do go… b/c I forget how much fun we have and the laughter… the laughter is the kind that has you in tears and your tummy is hurting  .

Good times and good fun! Next birthday is actually next Friday. Cinco de mayo baby. No plans as of yet, maybe burritos and bowling??? And then the next birthday will be mine, but that’s not til August.

I decided to copy Lei, and I have started answering/ commenting back in the comments you leave me. Starting with the foodie post and the travel plans post.

Eating, snacking, cooking… and all that in between

April 24, 2006 – 11:29 am

So yesterday we had a “date” of sorts. The big mister was gifted with a GC for Houston’s in the city and he said we could go I just needed to find a sitter. No Prob! We dropped the keiki off at my ‘rents and headed into the city for a late lunch early dinner. Not pictured is the “Flying Chicken Platter”. The big mister frequents Houston’s quite often, probably once a week for work. I was so indecisive about what I wanted to eat. I went on Yelp and read so many different raves about what to eat. The mister swayed me away from the Prime Rib, even though that’s what I had my eye on. The “booths” at this place prevent you from seeing what everyone else is eating, that’s how I normally do my basis, heh. So then I was debating between the Hawaiian rib eye and the Cedar Plank Salmon. As you can see, I had the rib eye and it was delicious! Big mister had the Knife and Fork BBQ Ribs.

Adventures in Eating #1

It was nice to be out with just the big mister, but again it felt weird not having the keiki with us.

I’ve been having a mean craving for dim sum lately, and it always happens to be on the days that my DIm Sum spot is not open, so today after lil missy’s WBC, I stopped for some Dim Sum.

Adventures in Eating #2

I love that it’s just a hop, skip, and a jump from the house. It’s also fairly cheap, and not to mention YUMMAY. The chicken bao are 60 cents each, the fried chicken dumpling are 50 cents each, the shrimp and chive dumplings are 3/ $1.65, and the pork siu mai are 3/$1.50. That’s my normal order there. I also like their curry puffs (2/$1.30) and their won ton noodle soup ($3.25) isn’t bad either.

Before getting the dim sum though I went into the Asian supermarket in search of my curry sauce. I normally use the S&B brand in the box, but today I decided to try…

Hawaiian Style Curry

The NOH brand Hawaiian Style Curry. Can’t hurt right. My beef chunks are on their second boil now and I think I’ll boil for another hour or so.

I spotted some snackies while I was at the Asian market too…

snackies

Green Tea and Melon flavored POCKY!!!! Talk about gourmet huh? Me and the lil miss have already sampled the Melon and I would definitely buy it again, a box is 99 cents. The Green Tea, I read about on another local bloggers site, one whom we have mutual friends in common. According to the link she provided from Ama.zon, the green tea is supposely in limited quantity. Well NOT at the location I went to! It is a bit pricier at $1.59 a box. I’ll let you know how it goes once I crack it open.

And finally some snackies for the lil man and lil miss to share…

snackies2

My first time seeing the double cream.

So are you hungry now???

Travel plans

April 21, 2006 – 10:34 pm

I’m getting a headache as I am trying to do some research on a trip we’re planning on making next month to Di.sney.land! UGH. As least we’re going though, right? I would prefer to fly, b/c driving takes up such a MAJOR chunk of the trip and it just feels like a lot of wasted time to me, but the mister wants to save moola and drive. We would rent a car to take down, b/c I just don’t want to drive either of the new cars for this trip. Car rental isn’t bad either, so far I’ve seen SUV rental for $40 a day. He wants to stay at the same place we stayed at last time, which I don’t mind, it was cool. I guess I don’t really need to do much research as plans are pretty much set, huh? i just wish we could fly, that’s 16 hours of the trip that we’re not sitting in the car as well as not having to watch out for the CHP!!!! Oh yeah and hey and with the ridiculous gas prices… is it really saving THAT much moola anymore???

Flip Flops

April 19, 2006 – 8:26 pm

It’s flip flop weather :) , for the time being anyhow, and I got to wear my favorite pair today!!!! YAY! I was a walking fashion faux paus though :( as my toesies were NOT painted. I am in dire need of a pedi. Not to mention I am in dire need of a haircut as well. Oh well… I’ll just walk around all unkempt and ugly.

Oh you know what? I totally forgot I got a new pair of Reef Sandy flip flops last week too from the PX, $19.99 no tax. I ♥ Reefs, they’re so comfy!

But I hear it’s going to cool down again, and the rain should be making it’s return AGAIN  BOO!!!!

Lil miss had another photo shoot again today, and it did NOT go well. It was so upsetting. She got a short nap though and has been in a pissy mood for the past few days. UGH. She hasn’t been sleeping well and has been keeping us up too. I’m thinking she’s teething, but I can’t see where it’s coming from?

Went clearance shopping today too and I finally got some new pants for… MYSELF!!! Now if only I can find some tops to go well with the bottoms.

A half hour til L.O.S.T…

The Number of the Day is 5

April 18, 2006 – 10:57 pm

*5*
(five, cinco, cinq, 五, lima)
Five minutes to yourself: I would say a bath, but just running the water would take that much time. Uhm, so I think I would isolate myself in complete silence and lay on the bed with the door closed. That would soooooooooooo be a treat as of late.

Five bucks to spend right now: I would buy a Snapple Kiwi Teawi, if I could only find them readily available and not search high and low, which would leave me about $3.50 left. I would try and buy a magazine, but who am I kidding? There are no good mags for under $3.95 anymore. So maybe take myself over to the magazine rack and just finger through some mags. Hmmm $3.50, maybe buy some sort of snack, I guess. Chips or something? Gum?

Five items in your house you could part with, right now, that you hadn’t thought of already: As I’ve warned you before I am a horrible packrat. The bags of clothes that don’t fit anybody anymore. The unused computers in the back room. The things in the closet downstairs, b/c no one has gone in there in 3+ years, and shit if that hasn’t seen the light of day in 3+ years it ’s probably just junk! The old magazines that are just collecting dust. The coffee table that has recently made a move to the garage.

Five items you absolutely, positively could not part with in your house: My kids, my laptop, the phones, bottles of water, and my camera.

Five words you love: Mommy, love, family, scrumptious, food

Five folks I’m tagging: Play along if you’re in the mood for a little mindless fun. And just for obligatory purposes of picking 5, the ones who seem to comment or frequent here: Marybeth, Gracie, Lei, Nikki, and Nubbly. Mama Toots, I would’ve picked you too, but you don’t have your OWN blog ;) , but if you’d like feel free to leave your answers in my comments :D

*sigh*

April 17, 2006 – 10:59 pm

Just *sigh*

*bangs head*

April 17, 2006 – 3:03 pm

I just realized that I did NOT take a picture of the cheesecake that I made. It didn’t even cross my mind. I got rave reviews at the party for it though and when I left there was not a trace of it to be found ;) . It was an Or.eo variation and next time, yes there will definitely be a next time :D , I want to do a blueberry or possibly a strawberry version. I have some butter shortbread cookies that I could use for a crust instead of the graham cracker kind… should be yummy, don’t ya think.

I used this easy peasy recipe!!! Unfortunately it got cracks in the top. I know I was supposed to let it cool in the oven with the door cracked and something or other, but the cracks were already there even before I pulled it out. Anyone got an explanation for it?

Today is done!!!!

April 15, 2006 – 11:35 pm

WAHOO!!! I swear, I don’t know what I was thinking. But I’m a bit glad the day is over and done with. We had 3 events to attend today, one right after another. Big mister came along for 2 of the three and the third one, everyone was asking where he was. Work, of course.

So anyhow the first event was at the Karate school. I was so happy to learn that my friend was hiding in the Bunny Suit. Unfortunately Icouldn’t talk to her, so it wouldn’t ruin the “fantasy” for some of the kids. J did some arts and crafts, the keiki took a couple photos with the BunBun and then we were on our way to destination #2.

Destination #2 was an Eas.ter get together with some friends and their keiki at the Toots house. Yummy food, good company, and keiki ;) = good times. I managed to order S a birthday cake and hide it at their house so we could sing Happy Birfday to him, his Birfday is Monday. A MMMMMMmint one from Cold.stone. Man oh man, that thing was huge… I thought more people we’re going to show up, I guess I should have stuck with a smaller size. Unfortunately the big mister had been feeling ill the majority of the day and ended up going home to rest up a bit.

For us… it was off to destination #3, the Karate Professor’s son’s 7th Birthday. J had a blast. Lil miss got passed around and fell asleep in someone’s arms. I got to hang out and hear some of the gossip around the school  .

We got home around 9 and I had to start my homemade cheesecake. Which is just about finished right now. Just need it to cool a bit and then wrap it, put it in the fridge, and bring it to party #4 for the weekend.

I am soooooooo beat. Can you tell?

*kickin my feet up*

April 14, 2006 – 10:44 pm

The keiki are both sound asleep and it is now some ME time ;) . I just made 2 batches of taco dip, and baked 96 Ready to Bake sugar cookies. Thank the Lord for Pillsbury. heh!

I was on a hunt for a sweater for the lil miss to wear with her dress on Sunday, and I was successful :) . YAY!!! Her dress is a sleeveless dilly-o and with the rain to be expected I didn’t want her to be cold. So the lil miss and I ventured to Car.ter’s and found their Eas.ter ‘fits 70% off. WAHOO!!!! The sweater doesn’t even look like it’s for Eas.ter. I’ll have to remember to take pictures. I also found her an outfit to wear tomorrow for the karate Eas.ter thinger. The Eas.ter Bunny is going to be there!!!! They have sooooooo many adorable clothes< i had to resist and only stuck to the 70% off stuff. I need to remember to shop there more often.

Then off to Tar.get we went to do some returns. And I found the purple HK bunny basket. So I bought that one and went to another Tarjey to return the all white one ;) . Also found her those Ci.rco wannabe Rob.eez shoesies. Man this girl has itty bitty sized feet but there’s so much butter that’s oozing out. Heh  . Like I said I'’ve been looking for sandals but it always looks like I’ve stuffed sausages in them.

So b/c I’ll be gone the majority of the day tomorrow, have you and yours a Wonderful weekend and A Super Hoppy Eas.ter ;) .

Fat and UGLAY!!!!

April 12, 2006 – 10:35 pm

*raises hands* That would be me. I’m not fishing for anything here. So I don’t want to hear it. That’s how I feel as of late and no one can change that feeling, unless of course you’ve got a sure fire IMMEDIATE way to get rid of the extra poundage in the blink of an eye. ICK. I was kidding myself b/c the breastfeeding diet clearly isn’t working anymore. After I had the lil miss, I was clearly smaller than before I even got prenant with her *sigh*. I noticed it even before people would tell me. And now.. it’s slowly but surely coming back :( . SUCKS!

I need to start eating less, but then again I can’t full on diet, b/c someone else relies on my food intake.

I loves me some food. It ain’t no joke.

I went to try on some clothes today. I’ve been wanting to replenish or add on to my ugly limited wardrobe, and I think I just scared myself and probably my keiki too b/c they were in the dressing room with me.

The bakery is currently FULL of rolls, I’m offering them FREE of charge!!!!

SH*T, SH*T, SH*T, SH*T!!!!

April 11, 2006 – 8:42 pm

DAMNIT!!! I got a nudge from the big mister to update the keiki site and since I haven’t been to the dashboard in a bit, it’s asking me to login. Guess who doesn’t know her login info??? Guess??? Just guess. I don’t know my login name. I don’t know my password. I don’ t know which email address I used. DAMN ME!

WHEW!!! Nevermind. I took a lucky guess and it let me in. *goes off to update, right now*

I never thought of that

April 10, 2006 – 10:45 pm

A friend of mine just turned the light bulb on over my head… I made bread pudding today and she was asking what went in it. So I told her basically stale bread, eggs, and milk… and essentially that’s French Toast, huh???? Only you gotta bake it. But it tastes so different from French Toast, huh?

Made a big mistake

April 10, 2006 – 2:45 pm

Why oh why did I go looking online at Baby Ga.p? There are too many cute Hawaiiana/ Hula Girl things/shirts/pants/skirts! Aiyah!!!! And I’m sure Gymbo will be coming out with a new line. Not to mention there’s some really cute stuff already at Old Na.vy and Tarjey. I’m in trouble!!!!!!

Now that she’s in her big girl seat til she’s about 6, I need to start selling some of her baby gear. I’ve got an infant carseat, stroller, B.jorn, and a handful of other things.

In other news, J is on his Spring Break and the poor guy has been under the weather :( . Starting since yesterday. Colds, chills, sniffles, sleepiness… the flu? Maybe. I worked today too so I made sure to clean myself up before handling the lil miss, thankfully she was sleeping when I got home. Last time I worked, I think that’s how she got sick. Doesn’t help that there were 2 kids sick and 1 with conjunctivits (pink eye)…. so I was certain to wash my hands and not touch them. Heh  !

Busy week ahead of me. Tomorrow we’ve got a date to take photos with the eas.ter bun.ny and lil Toots and maybe have the keiki take their eas.ter photos together. Wednesday, I’ve got work again. Thursday, we’ve got a date with my mom. Friday, I’ve got a lot of running around to do in preparation for the weekends festivities. Saturday we’re triple booked. First we’ve got the eas.ter family party at the karate school, then a get together at the Tootles house for a friends get together, and then we’ve got a birthday party for the Professor’s son *sigh*. Then Sunday is family day with eas.ter festivities.

Time to play with my keiki and get a drink. Catch ya later.

Sometimes…

April 8, 2006 – 7:25 pm

just sometimes… I get lonely and bored and sad. Yeah the kids are here, they’re always here and of course I wouldn’t change that for the world, but all parents know that when you spend every waking moment with your child(ren) there is a want for some down time. There is a want for interaction with others. And right about now… I could use some of that. Of course when they’re asleep and the house is still and it’s just me and my laptop and the telly remote, I could use someone to talk to. Doesn’t help that the mister works nights, in case you were wondering where he was. He’s there right now. *sigh* Don’t mind me.

Farewell my friend

April 4, 2006 – 8:50 pm

Today I said goodbye to a faithful friend… and made a new friend.
I hope “Sally” doesn’t get mad at me, I’ve always loved her and I always will.
It was just time!

 moment

April 2, 2006 – 9:41 pm

Lil man was combing my hair earlier and he says to me, “Mommy your hair is being bad!”

I was LITERALLY Rolling On the Floor Laughing My Ass Off, S asked him to repeat what he said and he held a section of my hair and said, “Mommy’s hair is being bad! I can’t comb this!”

I have this tendency to say that my hair is KNOTTY! Lil man took it as NAUG.HTY!
