Lil knitty

September 29, 2006 – 11:49 pm

It’s time I broke out the needles, the knitting ones. I contemplated crocheting even. I need to make the lil miss her very own scarf. EEEK, I’m so giddy about it. She needs it to go along with her ON pea coat that she’s been sporting b/c of the nippy weather we’ve been having. I can’t even tell you how many compliments she’s gotten on her coat, and people think we dropped a whole lot of money on it too, NO WAY! Got it during the ON baby sale and it was 25% off, so it was less than $20! And it’s come in handy! WOO! So yeah I’m on a mission to break out the needles and whip her up an adorable scarf. Similar to the one I saw at Bab.y Ga.p. Didn’t think I wanted to spend money on that when I could make one myself and be proud of the creation. Encourage me along people. It’s getting cold over here. Heck we’re supposed to be expecting rain next week. YAY :D !

Because I am THAT mom

September 29, 2006 – 10:35 pm

Halloween is fast approaching and a small fire has been lit under me to find the keiki their costumes b/c the Mommies want another go at the crazy keiki photoshoot. I wanted the lil miss to go with the princessy/ fairy theme, but then I thought to myself… I don’t want her to be oh so girly! I comtemplated a similar costume from last year from TCP, ‘cept not the punkin again but the lady bug. It’s sooooo cute. That’s my fall back ‘fit. For now anyhow. J wants to be a wizard of some sort, where he comes up with the ideas… I don’t know. And I’ve gone to 3 Halloween shops and there are no Wizards! Like last year he wanted to be a ghost. You would think it wouldn’t be so difficult to find those. Geez.

And here is where I become one of those mommies ;) . I tried to talk J into matching his sister  . They could do the whole pirate theme. He hasn’t totally nixed the idea, so we’ll see. I’m sure the Daddy will have something to say about it, like “NO!” And then I just go along with the bug and wizard idea, huh?

She’s trying my patience revisited

September 28, 2006 – 8:26 pm

Oh my this child of mine! She makes me want to cry and pull my hair out all at the same time. I mean, she’s not so bad, but then again she’s not her brother. He was the picture of THE perfect child when he was a tot, and then once he started school it all went to hell. Okay maybe not that bad, but he has become quite difficult.

I loved staying home with J when he was a wee one, and lately I can’t wait to have my alone time away from N. I know I must sound horrible, but I can’t even go to the bathroom in peace. She has to be right there, no matter what I’m doing!!!! But I’ve come to the realization that everything else added together is making it seem not as fun and enjoyable. Added to the fact that she is a BEAST at times. How many times does she need to be told NO! It doesn’t seem to phase her one bit though and she keeps right at it. GRRR!!!

Sun and Moon

September 23, 2006 – 11:22 pm

We just got home not too long ago, from an off Broadway… I’m talking way off, production of Mi.ss Sai.gon. And boy was it moving. We’re talking tears. We’ve seen it before, when the production came to SF. I’m so glad Lenglengbuleng was in it, otherwise I would have missed my favorite production. Don’t tell S, I told you, but I heard him sniffling too ;) . Yeah my college roomie played one of the saucy scantilly clad bargirls and she did such a great job. I’m so proud of her. I sooooooo want to see it again, I just don’t know when I would be able to, looks down at previous post. The cast was awesome. The girl who played Kim, man her voice. WOW! And the dude who played, Chris. WOW! Their voices were perfect together. S and I forgot some of the scenes, it’s been nearly 10 years, but it’s just such an emotional moving production!

Earlier in the day, the lil miss and I travelled through traffic and such to go to my BFF’s baby shower. Shoot I’ve known this girl since we were 5. YEAH! And she’s having her first baby, due next month. I don’t see or talk to her much but it’s funny when we do see each other, we just click like the time that has passed… was nothing. At first I didn’t want to go, with the time constraints and all, but I’m glad I did.

Tomorrow should be pretty ‘lax. Gotta drop J off at hula. Then I’ve gotta find J some PJs so he can wear them for pajama day on Monday for the start of spirit week. Pick J back up. Pick up S and then head to my ‘rents to watch some football, hang out, and have some BBQ

    Hel.lo Kitt.y Clo.gs

    September 21, 2006 – 9:54 pm

Okay so remember those HK clogs that I wanted to get for the lil miss, I can’t seem to find the photo anymore. But I got them for her… awhile back. She still can’t fit them. I went into PSS today to look for some Va.ns wannabes and low and behold my PSS finally has the HK clogs in stock. And not only that, but they’ve got them in the big girls sizes now. Before I think they only went up to size 10 in girls, they go up to size 3 now. So if you were or are in the market, they’re there again. If your PSS doesn’t have ‘em, I can pick some up for you and send them your way! I think they’re so stinkin’ cute! And there’s some damned cute other shoes in the mini size, AAACK! When is it BOGO again?

    Out of commission

    September 20, 2006 – 11:46 pm

The tv in the family room is currently out of commission, as of yesterday. Yeah THAT tv. The big beast. Already!?!?!?! It’s been less than 3 months and the bulb has already blown. Thank the Lord for warranties. Unfortunately we can’t all sit on the floor and enjoy the toob together comfortably.

But we’re on day 2 and homework and dinner actually worked out quite nicely today. Lil man does his homework on the dining room table b/c: 1. the desk in his room is cluttered with my crap, still; and 2. I can keep an eye on him better, so he’s not easily distracted.

There are 2 other televisions in the house, so it’s not as if we’re TVless… and thank goodness we’re not. B/c Grey’s is on tomorrow! I only really care about 3 shows” Grey*s An.atomy, L*OST, and Gilm.ore G*irls! You can throw in some fluffy stuff here and there for the rest of the week.

There’s a huge chance the big mister will be without his beloved football on the beast this Sunday. And better than him sitting in the bedroom all day, we might have to go to my ‘rents so he can enjoy it there, and hey an added bonus for him is that they have NFL pass *rolls eyes*. Eh, don’t bother me none, there’s 4 tvs over there. HA!

    I want one

    September 19, 2006 – 11:44 pm

    elmotmx

Released just today and I didn’t bother to look. Apparently the shelves are already empty! Hmmph :( . Saw the clip on GMA and it looks cute, even just to see the lilmissy’s reaction! Knowing her she won’t like it, but I’m mean like that  .

I had been seeing the propaganda for it all summer and wondered what the deal was. Everytime we went to Tarjey, there it was, all secret and stuff. And now he’s here and I missed it.

I remember 10 years ago the hoopla over the original and this one is so much more!Must. Find. One!

    Mark

    September 19, 2006 – 11:14 pm

When the lil miss was born, I searched and searched all over her person for her birthmark. Everyone has one, right? Lil man has more than one, one on his face, the other on his toosh ;) . I’ve got one on my arm, but for some reason I can’t find it at the moment  . So I gave up my quest and figured she didn’t have one. Well a month or so ago… I found it! And I think it’s beautiful. It’s on her shoulder and it’s pretty big, but it’s not dark. It just looks like a bit of discoloration and that’s all. It just adds to her beauty and makes her all the more beautiful in my eyes.

    ‘Lax weekend

    September 17, 2006 – 5:06 pm

Yesterday, Saturday, we loafed around the house and then headed out for a light lunch with the big mister prior to him going to work. The weather was lovely so we went down to the Ta.co Bel.l down in Lin.da Ma.r to enjoy the view. Surprisingly not to many people out there, lots of people learning to surf. Then lil man went to the “BOO @ the ZOO” (the night tour with BYOflashlights at the SF Zoo) with the BFFamily. Lucky duck! And they even got free dinner sponsored by Out.back Steak.house. He said he had fun. I’d like to try and go the next time around. He got home pretty late and the lil miss was waiting up for him.

This morning was the usual hula class, while he was there I ran over to Tarjey to pick up some things for some up coming parties. Then we came home to find the big mister in front of the telly. LoL. No big surprise. We figured out that we would enjoy the weather and do some outdoor cooking. I grilled up some NY steaks, baby back pork ribs, and corn. De-lish! I told the mister that the only problem with eating so early, is that we’ll get hungry again. It was more like a late lunch/ early dinner.

So yeah a ‘lax weekend. Which is always nice. The next 3 weekends should be rather busy though.

    City girl at ♥

    September 13, 2006 – 5:20 pm

Although where I sleep at night is another city, my license and legal address tell me that I am a city girl and I always will be. SF ’til I die. LMAO.

So I made the small trek downtown today, without babies, and it was nice :D . No stroller to worry about, no one lagging behind. Didn’t have to look for elevator access. YAY! Had lunch with the ladies for my belated birthday. Took the baby to my ‘rents and had my dad drop me off at BART. I went earlier than I was s’posed to just so I could walk around and “window shop”. First stop SF Centre. Found some stuff to send in my care package, whew! Perused the mall and then headed out to the other shops on Market. Found nothing but I did happen across Cof.fee Be.an and Te.a Lea.f and saw they had a seasonal pumpkin drink. And although it would not be my original choice, I got it b/c I don’t know when I’ll be in that area again. And Yumm-O, definitely better than the ‘Bucks pumpkin thinger, actually tastes like pumpkin!

Met La Italiana in front of ON and we made the trek up to Ch.eesecake to meet Boogerpicker and the Fro. Got an outside table and enjoyed the lovely weather. Shared the tex mex rolls, the Thai lettuce wraps, the tomato basil pizza, and my ULTIMATE fave the BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad. Drooooooools. I could have eaten that whole thing to myself and would have been more than content! We were stuffed and there was no room for Chee.secake :( , but it’s all good b/c I had to make a stop at Bea.rd Pap’a’s for my mom. Made my stop there and headed back home on BART.

While walking around by my lonesome, I actually missed having to make the trek on a daily basis for work. Although where I worked, it was very limited in terms of the places I could visit unless I wanted to go to the Em.barca.dero. I think I should make a trip to downtown more often, like at least once a month. But like I said it was nice to be without kids and just go whereever my feets could take me.

I do have to say that in that lil time I was gone. I really missed my lil missy.Big mister said he could tell I missed her b/c I was all hugging up on her. She’s too smushy ;) .

    Another busy weekend behind me

    September 10, 2006 – 9:57 pm

*Yawn* Busy, busy. busy and I actually met Diyosa and MzCELaneous and their babies too!!!

Friday, the usual dinner at my ‘rent and then I dropped off J to his sleepover. His best friend’s birthday.

Saturday, met up with the BFM to pick up J and picked up more Peek-a Poohs. LoL. Had lunch with the ohana at Re.d Robi.n and then came home to hang out for a bit. Then hung out with the BFFamily at Ta.co Bel.l and they hung out here after.

Sunday, today, was a busy kinda day. Dropped off J to hula then off to Clement Street. Walked around, checkout some stores, got N some snackies, picked up more Peek-a-Poohs, and then met up with the others for Papa Toot’s birthday at Bur.ma Su.perstar. Then I went to the Flic.kr Mixer. Which at first I thought might be awkward being that I would have only “known” C and D, but it turned out okay.

This week should be pretty ‘lax and so should the weekend. But too bad I don’t know why the weekend has me itching in the back of my head. To the best of my knowledge, i don’t have any commitments but I feel like I do. I’m just overlooking them. UGH.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

    ‘Tis the season

    September 10, 2006 – 12:36 am

For pumpkin yumminess! Mama Toots is all about her Pumpkin Spice La.tte at the ‘Bucks. I tried it and I don’t much care for it. I couldn’t taste the pumpkin spice. The baked goodies… those on the other hand are delish! I’ve had the pumpkin scone, and it’s not normal scone material. It’s better. It’s like a muffin. It’s cake like. And all my mouth knows is that it’s yummy. Then there’s the pumpkin cream cheese muffin. I think it’s fine without the cream cheese. I’m telling you this time of year I like the pumpkiny baked yumminess. Even a nice slice of pumpkin pie with a dollop of whipped cream= yumm-O! I’ve got a recipe I’d like to try out which involves the word pumpkin and cheesecake. And I need to revive that pumpkin muffin recipe that I’ve been making the past two years.

    Hunger strikes

    September 6, 2006 – 11:14 pm

But it’s freaking 10:30PM *shakes head*. Eating this late is NOT good by anyone’s standards, or it shouldn’t be!

Went to this new craptacular Asian Buffet with my ‘rents today. The lady who was supposed to bring us water ignored us and finally brought us some after asking the 4th time, which was 2 plates later. Maybe they’re just getting on their feet being new and all. But it was trash in my opinion. I’d much rather go to Moons.tar. Cleaner. Friendly. More professional. Food is better. IMO anyhow. I swear while we were there, there were 2 plates dropped, 1 by wait staff. The host threw something on an adjacent table while seating customers. and just the food was subpar. $7.99 for lunch but still. And good thing we had the 10% off coupon. So yeah if you’re considering trying the new Asian buffet by the airport dont bother.

    Bloggin Meme

    September 4, 2006 – 9:18 pm

    When did you start?
November of 1999. My first “journal” is still up somewhere in Geo.cities land. ahahaha. I came across is not too long ago. I’m too embarassed to hotlink it though ;)

    Why did you start?
My “lil brother” from college had a website and I thouht it was the coolest thing. I would waste my late nights away reading other people’s blogs, that I figured I might as well do it too. It started off being a “mommy blog” of sorts to document the happenings of J’s life, being a new mom and all. It worked b/c he would have his night wakings, I would grab a bottle, and then I would go on a blog as he tried to sleep. I remember doing it one handed even.

    What is the best part?
Definitely reading the archives and comparing things and how life was even 1 or 2 years ago.

    What is the worst part?
The drama that people like to start just from something I’ve said and they don’t quite agree or they’re “hating” and such.

Do your friends and family read your blog?
Only a handful and I’m quite alright with that.

What are the most memorable moments from your blogging?
Actually meeting fellow Bloggers or running into them or even recognizing them in real life.

Do you ever have trouble telling people that you have a “blog”?
Actually I don’t tell people about it. If they happen upon it then so be it, but I’m not advertising it at parties and such.

How much longer do you see yourself doing this?
Honestly I don’t know. I will probably do this for awhile, maybe just not publicly.

What are your favorite blogs to read?
I have way too many, just see the column on the right. I pretty much go through all of those on a daily basis, and if not that, then at least a weekly basis.

    The long weekend

    September 4, 2006 – 10:34 am

So it turns out the weekend was pretty eventful despite not having any real plans. When I knew the big mister didn’t have his usual workload I really wanted to do something with the keiki, seeing as how we didn’t do much over the summer.

Friday, like I said I went shopping with Mama Toots and the babies then it was the usual dinner at my ‘rents. Grub! Prime Rib! Fresh Corn! Pinakbet, gotta love some carabasa squash and okra! Oh yeah and my brother grilled some burgers but I didn’t much care for that.

Saturday was pretty much low key as the big mister had a wedding to DJ and he was kinda stressing over it. We had lunch at Che.vy’s and then he was off to his gig. The keiki and I hung out for a bit and then hung out with our best friend family. Walked around the mall, like mall rats, and then headed off to dinner at Denn.y’s. Lil man has been asking to go to Eggettes after overhearing someone at Tarjey talk about Peek-a-Poohs there! He’s been collecting them over the summer.

This is my collection hanging from my backpack:

    My Peek-a-Pooh collection

Lil miss was passed out the entire time we were there, so lil man and I shared a Mango Freeze. Yumm-O! Luckily for me, J was so enamored with his new additions that he only got about 3 sips in and the rest was MINE!!!

Sunday we woke up with no plans. We had a lot of ideas but only came to one conclusion, we used the free tickets to Great Am.erica that the big mister got from work. He wasn’t all too thrilled to go, but it ended up being a good time with our best friend family. Unfortunately I failed to take a photo of the funnel cake that we devoured. Heh.

The infamous carousel by day and night:

The Great America Carousel by Day The Great America Carousel by night.

The night ended with an amazing fireworks display. Even better than the ones we saw on the 4th.

And so today, Monday, we’re doing nothing. Loafing and preparing for a short week at school. Big mister is back to work tonight. I need to figure out what’s for dinner. I actually want to cook but don’t have much to work with.

    Early Labor Day shopping

    September 2, 2006 – 8:49 am

So yesterday in an attempt to get some early labor Day shopping out of the way, the lil miss and I headed down to the Southbay with Toots and Mama Toots to the Gre.at Ma.ll in Mil.pitas. We were hoping the stores would have some good sales. There were a few here and there but nothing too significant. Mama Toots bought a ton of things, heh. I walked away with a few things for the lil miss…

    Black MaryJanes
    MaryJanes in Black

    Pink MaryJanes
    And in Pink too

I am a sucker for shoes not only for myself but for the lilmiss as well. She has 3 pairs of tennies right now, 1 pair of Rob.eez, her Ta.rget boots, and a purple pair of shoes. But nothing as cute as these. They’re SUPER soft leather and the sole is so flexible and not to mention RUBBER. Awesome. They remind me so much of her Pe.di-Ped.s which I absolutely loved but she outgrew them. I ♥ these shoes it’s no wonder I bought them in 2 colors. AAAAAAAAAND they were only $16. At this point she’s in between a size 3 and 4, so I opted for the 4. They go all the way up to 8 though so she might be wearing this style for awhile. heh!

I also got J some new wind pants for $9 and 2 t-shirts that were only less than 50 cents. Clothes for the lilmiss just some white jeans for $2.50.

    And for myself:

    Hello Kitty Collector Pez

The other day while perusing the Sanrio store, I came across this collector’s tin of crystal Hello Kitty PEZ! I knew I had to have it but the price was just out of control for something I would never take out of the box and only look at through the plastic so I walked away.

While shopping yesterday, I came across it again and for $10 cheaper. I couldn’t walk away from it. And even considered buying one for the lilmiss. hehe.

Was hoping for something else for myself, like clothes but nothing really caught my eye. Oh well.

    Happy Labor Day Weekend everyone.

    Stinkin’ cute kawaii

    September 1, 2006 – 7:27 am

    pucca

An hour before I have to take J to school, so I’m sitting here with him watching ‘toons as he eats his breakfast and what should show up on the channel but a commercial for Pu.cca!!!! WHAAAAAAT? No way! So here I am searching for when it’s coming on, September 18 folks. It’s been so long but I think I did a Pu.cca layout, when I was actually doing layouts back in the day. And if I can remember, I believe my AIM icon is Pu.cca too :D . I’m excited to see what it’s going to be like.
