Post Holiday Pre New Year’s

December 28, 2006 – 10:38 pm

I’ve certainly been MIA haven’t I? But then again there isn’t much traffic this way anymore. Which is okay, I suppose?! Christmas was good. Time well spent with family.

Christmas Eve Day was spent at S’s grandma’s house with gma and S’s mom. Which was good. Nice and small. We brought over their usual pickies (salami, cheese, crackers, chips, and I threw in some piglets in blankies too and bread pudding). Time well spent just talking stories and watching the 49ers get spanked again. Unfortunately S’s gma had a stroke on the 26th and was sent to the ER. Thankfully she’s stable. She’s a fighter at 84. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She’s supposed to have gone home today, but I haven’t heard anything. I’m so glad we spent the time we did with her on the eve.

Christmas Day, we woke up earlier than we all had hoped, b/c J wanted to open his loot from Santa. I’m telling you, I think Santa seriously needs to cut down on gifting. I’m thinking 2 gifts per child from me and the daddy and 3 gifts each from Santa. J got quite a bit of loot this year, and I don’t think he understands what Christmas is about. *sigh* J’s loot: Onyx Nintendo DS, Big Brain Academy for DS, the DS starter kit, and he and his daddy are sharing the gift of an XBox 360. From Santa: 2 more games for the DS, 2 Ben 10 figures, the Ben 10 Lab/ Bus, and 2 games for the Xbox. N got 2 Nike warm up suits (that I got for $9 each, woo hoo for SuperSales), a Roxy fit: a pair of bermudas and a shirt (for under $10, SuperSales rock my socks), and some GreenDog clothes that I got for under $10. Oh yeah and Daddy got her a long sleeve t “My Daddy Loves Me”. From Santa, N got TMX Elmo and an Elmo Zoe purse and accesories thinger. I got the early gift of my MacBook and I also got another Tokidoki. A bigger one but in the same design as my other, so I want to exchange it for possibly something in the foresta or citta rosa :D !!! Big mister got clothes and the shared gift of the Xbox 360, as well as gifting himself with a PS3. He’s debating on whether he wants to keep it though. We headed over to my mom’s to help cook and just hang out around noonish. Ate lots and lots and alots. Seriously! What am I going to do when they move to Hawaii next month :( ?

The 26th we headed over to my ‘rents, not too early though. It was my dad’s 68th birthday! But he wasn’t even home. My brother took him out to breakfast. So my mom and I headed out to check out the post holiday madness. Hit up 2 Targets and a few other stores, but didn’t come home with too much. Just needed to do a few exchanges. Got back to the house and had pancit and cake for dad’s birthday.

Yesterday, headed to the mall again for more exchanging.

I’ve been playing quite a bit of the DS, I was thinking that I would save my money and get myself a pink one, but eh I think it’s better if we just have 1 b/c J will be back to school next week anyhow and won’t be able to play it much.

New Year’s? No plans just for the day. Lunch at the ‘rents. Moms is cooking up a storm. Prime Rib! And we’re having some kutsinta, puto, hopia, and a bunch of other goodness. And then Tuesday starts my diet

Hope your holidays have been good.

How many more days?

December 20, 2006 – 11:21 pm

I am giftless by 5, quite possibly 6. And it’s driving me nuts b/c I have NO clue as to what to get these people. The kids gifts, the mister’s gifts, and even the gifts that Santa is bringing are ready. My cards have been sent, And man the cards from everywhere else have been pouring in. Can I just say that I absolutely ADORE photo cards. I would have to say that 90% of the cards we’ve received have been photo cards. Yay!

And can I just say that Marybeth’s card was jaw droppingly AWESOME! Holy moly! I had to call her and leave her a msg to tell her I wasn’t sending her one of our cards b/c her’s was just WOW! How she can top that I dont know, but I know she will! She always does. Maybe I need to pay her to make mine next year

The parties have calmed down. Thank goodness. I’ve got a LHS ladies get together this Friday. My gift for that is taken care of, I just need to pick up 2 more small things, which I’ve heard are on clearance at Target. The meal this year is a Japanese theme. I think last year started the theme for the meals. Heh. It’s quite funny, as usual I’m commisioned for dessert. Bringing custard mochi and dessert sushi (rice krispy treats rolled to look like sushi with other candies and such).

J has a sleep over at his best friend’s house tomorrow.

Then a small get together with S’s mom and grandma on Sunday and my small family get together at my ‘rents on Monday.

Lil miss has, of course, gotten a hold of some snifflies and coughs. Blah! Her nose is so dry and peely and red. I think I hate it more than she does.

Hope your holidays are going well so far!

Inevitable

December 16, 2006 – 10:35 pm

With all the events and outtings, it’s inevitable that the keiki should come down with a little something :( . J first, probably from school and now the lil miss. Her nose is a faucet. Gunk for days and she can’t breath :( . I don’t like when she’s sick. It’s not affecting J so much, thank goodness.

1 more weekend til Christmas and I have NOTHING in the way of gifts for the family. UGH!

Parties, parties, and more parties. I can’t wait til all this madness is over. I’m seriously tiring of these parties. We had 2 today and 1 more tomorrow. Last weekend it was worse.

I took some photos of the keiki at home for a Christmas card and I kinda got some, it’s just the card is now sitting on my computer. Doing nothing. Blah! Like I said, if I don’t send them out by Christmas, they can definitely be New Year’s cards. Heh. Took the keiki today to do some “Super Friends” Christmas pics, and they came out… well … okay. Can’t expect too much when the majority of them are under 2. They were all over the place. But we got something, which hopefully they’ll appreciate when they get older. Now in the way of taking my 2 to get some photos done and photos with Santa too, I can only hope that maybe I can do something about that this week.

It smells delish in here

December 11, 2006 – 6:18 pm

I’m roasting a chicken right now with garlic and lemons. YUM. The baby is napping and the tree is done. Lil man is in his room doing his homework. And big mister is off to work. The lil man’s Christmas list and that from Santa has been fulfilled. We have 1 thing for the lil miss. UGH. Honestly she is into absolutely nothing and everything at the same time. She’d be content with rummaging through her brother’s room, but we all know that’s not going to happen. I picked her up a toy and I’m not even sure I want to keep it.

I survived the weekend and man I’m beat. I would so get some napping in with the baby but the chicken should be hollering soon. Looks like we won’t be having much time to ourselves until after the New Year. And then by then, I’ll have to be dealing with my parents move.

The weekend hecticness

December 8, 2006 – 12:41 am

It all shall start tomorrow, Friday.

We’re supposed to head down the coast to the tree farm and get a tree for my ‘rents house with my brother. He also has plans to go to his usual winery *rolls eyes*. He better not hold us out there too long. If the trees aren’t too expensive, hopefully I can get one for our house too.

I feel bad b/c ever since the lil man has come into our lives, he’s come to pick out a tree. But with school and time and such, it just doesn’t work out. What with this weekend being so damn hectic even. I don’t want to wait too long b/c damn time is creeping… and fast!

I have barely made a dent in the Christmas list and it doesn’t help that all these birthdays are popping up. Damn the December babies ;)

So I figured we’ll just stay out all day Saturda. YUCK! No point in driving back home, so we’ll be out for bout 10 hours. Then it’s up early Sunday to take J to hula and then pick him up and head to my ‘rent’s for lunch b/c my sister and her family will be out there. Then bring S home and head out to the 5PM birthday.

Can I just say that Monday is looking awfully appealing to me, after I drop J to school of course. The gifts for the parties have already been wrapped and set aside. *Whew* thank goodness for that.

See you on Monday I guess… let’s hope I survive.

Day 7- Saturday, 12.02.2006

December 4, 2006 – 10:37 pm

The airport day and day to go home :( .

We tried to eat all the junk in the fridge for breakfast, I had an Okinawan sweet potato and tapioca pudding, yeah it was mixed together. Mom and N shared haupia cake and guava cake. *sigh* Only in Hawaii, or at least not as good anywhere else. Packed up the shmall itty bitty car and headed to Costco for gas. Then to the airport. Returned the car, checked in, and met up with my Aunt and Uncle one last time.

Had lunch at BK and walked over to have Dole Whip. YUM.

Boarded the plane, tried to give N some Dramamine only for her to barf all over my left leg and my mom’s right one. ICK! She fell asleep soon after that for 2 hours.

So we’re home. And I’m pretty much caught up to life here.

Oh Hawaii how I miss thee :(

Day 6 recap- Friday, 12.01.2006

December 4, 2006 – 10:28 pm

Our last official day in Hawaii *sigh* :( .

We headed out back to Liliha b/c my mom wanted to pick up their seasonal fruit cake and some scones to bring home for my pops. If you’re ever out that way, definitely make a stop not only for the coco puffs but for the scones. So ono!

Then it was back to the ‘rents house for one more check on it and to drop off a few things.

Yellow Hibiscus

A stop off at KMart by the house to check out their goods and then to Sam’s Club. 2 boxes, that’s 16 pineapples yo. Oh yeah and some Portuguese sausages too. Went to TRU in search of some Christmas gifts for the lil man. Actually the Nintendo DS Lite to be exact. Got it and at only 4.something % tax. Which rocks compared to the 8.5% we pay here. With the starter kit and 2 games.

Then back to the hotel to do a bit of packing and reorganizing. My mom wanted to go to church in Waikiki at 5, so we headed out that way only to find the church under renovation. She was bummed. Headed to Ala Moana for some last minute goods…

Hello Kitty Tiki

And eat some last time Yummy Korean BBQ, but the one at the mall wasn’t quite as good as the ones outside the mall b/c they don’t grill over the coals.

When we got back to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised with some fireworks.

Fireworks in Waikiki

Every Friday the guests at Waikiki get a show and thankfully we were right there. Like I could see from the window where the fireworks were being shot off. AWESOME view.

Then it was off to nighty nite land so we could head to the airport early and get that stuf done.

Santa came early!!!

December 3, 2006 – 2:57 pm

Totally didn’t think I was getting anything for Christmas. And lookie what I got ;) . Now what do I do with my Powerbook? I ♥ my Powerbook, and I think that’s why the MacBook is still sitting cozy without the seal broken yet. The big mister keeps urging me to open it. I’m not sure I’m ready just yet

Hawaii recap will finish once I get used to being home *sigh. I miss Hawaii already.

Day 5 recap- Thursday 11.30.2006

December 1, 2006 – 10:44 am

We didn’t have much in the way of having anything to do today other than my having lunch with a friend. So I made plans for the beach!!!

But first breakfast…

Breakfast of champions #?

That would be my apple napple along with some juice. YUM!

Then it was off to the beach across the street.

Palm trees in a row

Despite the weather being overcast, it was still hot.

Miss bikini bottom

I made the mistake of letting her finger go just for a lil minute and she fell face first into the water and swallowed up quite a bit. ICK! So it took her a bit to warm up again. We’re all “fish” when it comes to water in our family so it was a bit of a disappointment when she headed for the towel. She came back though and then refused to get out!!! Typical huh?

We headed back to the hotel b/c I had a noon lunch date with my friend Lynn. Got ready and headed to Ala Moana. Was a little early so me and the lil miss headed into Shirokiya and then Macy’s. Finally met up with Lynn, after not seeing her for 3+ years. She’s still such a sweetheart. Had lunch at Macaroni Grill and we talked so much and gossiped ;) , that I barely made a dent in my food. B/c we left mama at the hotel, we had to head back and get her. Despite being with Lynn for such a short time, it was still nice to be able to have spent time with her.

Picked up mama and headed to Waiola Shaved Ice…

Waiola Bakery and Shaved Ice

Okay so I was wrong. I thought Matsumoto’s on the North Shore had the best shaved ice, Waiola is waaaaaaaay better! Too bad it’s way in town.

Eyeing my shaved ice

I ordered a large strawberry and haupia with mochi balls and mama had the large lychee and mango with mochi balls. So ono.

We headed out of town to WalMart to pick up a few things. And then back to Ala Moana too.

The lilmiss is a handful. Yowza. But she’s also been hilarious. I taught her to bark and whenever you ask her “What does Auntie say?” She barks!!! It’s hilarious. She’s also been acting like Miss America. She waves at EVERYONE and throws kisses. So many people oogling and googling her. HAM!
