“Star” sighting for the day

January 24, 2007 – 12:04 pm

So I’m sittin in traffic on the Nimitz listening to kccn and I’m wondering if and when I’ll have a star sighting. We’re headed into Waikiki to my mom’s hairdresser. What normally takes about 15-20 minutes takes about 45 instead. We finally get on Kuhio we’re waiting at a stoplight and this black SUV comes to a screeching halt as the crazy blonde driver looks to make sure no one is coming through the intersection, she makes a hard turn onto Kuhio to park in front of a hotel. Who was it? Beth, from Dog the Bounty Hunter and a camera crew!!! So there marks star sighting #1. I was hoping it would be more of someone on Lost, we’re headed around the island either today or tomorrow, so maybe? Just maybe? I’m wondering if we’ll get a small in the background sort of cameo in our rented blue van.

Beach Day

January 23, 2007 – 10:57 am

Enjoying the scenery

Yesterday we finally made it to the beach! YAY! A very short trip though b/c the lilmiss was too much to handle all on my lonesome. And it wasn’t too fun either. Hopefully we can squeeze in another beach day before I leave, at another beach, with my parents next time around.

What happens when you go on vacation?

January 21, 2007 – 10:05 am

The lilmiss has learned to say my name. Why? B/c in our home I am referred to only as “Mommy”, yes even by the “Daddy”. We have been away from our home for less than a week and the 2 other people that would call me “Mommy” aren’t here. My parents of course call me by the name they gave me, and well the lilmis has picked that up and figured out that’s me! So more often than not when she hears my name said, she feels the need to say it, over and over and over again!

She’s also picked up my dad’s nickname, or at least the one that my mom calls him, “Honey”. So everyone now and then you’ll also hear her yelling, “Honeeeeeeeeeeeey?”

She’s a funny one I tell ya!

You wish…

January 18, 2007 @ 7:20AM

You were here!!!!

Day 2 of Hawaii 2007

January 17, 2007 – 7:33 pm

Yes I’m in Hawaii again. Me and the lil miss are here to help my parents with their move to the islands. Yesterday we did a lot of running to and from places picking up things for the house. The house is quite empty with the exception of a dining table and some beds. No couches to sit on, no tv to view. Thankfully there is a radio, and surprisingly someone’s got an open wireless connection, so I’m doing a bit of mooching.

I’ve called around and they’re getting their cable tv set up tomorrow, which just means we’ve gotta move faster in getting them their tv purchased. The landline gets set up in a week or so.

The weather has been quite exceptional. It’s not too hot, which is nice. And it was actually cold this morning. Heh. Not like the cold they’re experiencing back home, but cold for Hawaii standards.

I’ve already had my usual Korean plate with the fix’ins and some ahi poke. YUM! Oh yeah and today we went to Liliha so my dad could experience some Cocopuffs. I just wanted a scone, but they were already out of the blueberry and it was only 10:30AM. We went to Chinatown today for fresh fruit, seafood, and veggies. YUM!

I’m seriously hoping the weather warms up a bit so we can get some beach time in. I’ve got a few dates to hang out with some peeps too.

National Breakup Day

January 11, 2007 – 9:25 pm

According to Yahoo, today, 01.11, is National Breakup Day? Who knew. And who comes up with this stuff? Strange.

At bay

January 10, 2007 – 12:25 am

Thank you to the ladies who left me get well wishes in my previous post, but I hope I’m not jinxing myself by saying that I think the sickies may be kept at bay. Only a few visits to the porcelain God to sit, not to hug today. Although right now, I feel like a hug at the porcelain God might help me to feel better. Believe me, I’ve tried… and nothing. So maybe it’s my body’s way of telling me that we’re almost done with this.

Went to the ‘rents today to check on the lil miss and pick up some arroz caldo. I could almost feel the stuff stink to my innards. YEAH! My intentions were to bring her home b/c her daddy and kuya were missing her, but I left her there for one more day. For good measure.

Funny thing, as I’ve been sitting here watching TV her latest favorite commercial just came on. Ya know the one with the Sound of Music song, “So Long, Farewell”. Baby girl can speak French… adieu, adieu :-D . Okay enough, she comes home tomorrow!

S.I.C.K

January 9, 2007 – 11:51 am

UGH… that would be me. All day yesterday. In and out of the bathroom. In and out. Thankfully it was the mister’s non busy day so he took care of the lil miss for the better part of the day and then he took her to my ‘rents for the evening. I just didn’t have it in me to take care of her, let alone J. Thankfully J is pretty self sufficient. He was ever so helpful and caring too, which was nice. If I wasn’t in the bathroom then I was in bed.

Feeling the teensiest bit better, but still having to go to the bathroom. Feeling light headed too, only b/c I probably haven’t eaten anything. Took a shower and I’m going to attempt to head out the door. Life goes on right? And I’m actually okay with going to the bathroom every now and then, as long as it’s coming out the bottom and not the top. There’s just something about throwing up. Ewwww.

The culprit? The only thing that I could think of, that only I ate on Sunday… edamame from Trader Joe’s. And then I got all worried last night that maybe I got e.coli. Blah. We shall see how the day progresses. This is not fun.

Feeling left out

January 5, 2007 – 11:48 pm

Did I miss the memo? Did I miss the secret convention? B/c I’m feeling left out, but whatevers right? Or maybe I’m just spazzing out? It sucks to feel left out. Conspiracy? UGH! Whatevers. I’ve got other things and people to worry about, right?

Overdue notice

January 5, 2007 – 11:45 pm

Okay so the book was found at the library. ASSHOLES! Ugh… it seemed like the librarian thought she was doing me a favor by taking the late fees off, but uhm hello it was their error! I returned the book LONG BEFORE the due date, so suck it! But then she comes at me and tells me I owe other fees for a different book, which I could’ve sworn was in on time! Bullshit, but whatever. I sucked it up, asked S for $1 and paid up my $1.25. If you know me at all, I’m never ever late with anything, that’s why I’m so annoyed by it, but all is taken care of. I owe them nothing at the moment and I don’t have any books in my current possesion.

Cheese for the moment

January 5, 2007 – 11:38 pm

It’s strange, it seems we’ve been thinking about each other at the same moments as of late. There have been a number of times where I’ve picked up the phone to call and he says that he was just about to call too. Then today I messaged him, and he said that he was thinking about calling right before he got the message. And he says… “Maybe b/c we’re in love.” Ahahahaha…. ewwww! So not like us, at least not publicly anyhow ;) .

2nd overdue notice

January 4, 2007 – 1:08 am

UGH! It’s stressing me out too. I got a 2nd overdue notice for a library book that J took out under my account. The thing is, we returned the damned thing over a month ago, before I left for my trip. I hate that shit. And it’s driving me batty. I’m going to try and settle this tomorrow.

We’re also going on a school tour for a possible new school for J tomorrow. We’re just so uncertain about where he is right now. He loves it. But… yeah just but for right now. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow, how we like it, and if there’s even any room for him there.

Thanks to Lissa, I am now on the KDrama tip. Watching My Lovely Kim Sam-Soon on azntv, and damn it’s addicting.

The little miss is a little robotic repeating machine too. It’s awesome.

Back to the grind

January 3, 2007 – 12:34 am

Lil man went back to school today, after being carefree for the past 2 weeks. Since gifting him with the DS and fulfilling his wishes with the Ben 10 paraphenalia, his vacation and off time were hardly irritable. Niiiiiiiice ;) . He wasn’t bored much of the remainder of his vacation. I’m sure he was driving us nuts before Christmas, but I can’t even remember.

Thankfully it wasn’t my morning to take him :D . S was surprised I didn’t hear him, apparently the lil man was more than excited to get to school b/c at 7AM he was dressed and ready to go. S even woke up earlier than his alarm b/c J was running laps, stomping back and forth from the front to his room. So I’m sure I’ll be hitting that snooze button quite a bit tomorrow morning. The lil miss has been really good at indulging me with the sleeping in. Poor thing will more than likely get a rude awakening tomorrow.

Ran out to Trader Joe’s and got some goodness, literally! Veggies, fruits, and numnums! Then headed to Costco right next door for some fish, water, and bananas. Doing pretty well with the eating. Didn’t get a chance to hit the treadmill today though. Went to visit with S’s grandma and she looks to be doing well. Better than I had expected and she was in very good spirits. Yay!

I need to get some shuteye. G’nite :)

Welcome to 2007

January 2, 2007 – 12:26 am

Happy New Year everyone.

Big mister had to work last night so it was me and the keiki ringing in the New Year. For the past x years, I’m not sure how many it’s been, but before the clock strikes midnight we turn on all the lights in the house. Then when it finally does strike we do the hug and kiss and before the minute strikes we run through the house and throw coins into every room possible. This was the lilmissy’s 1st year experiencing this craziness and she had that WTF look on her face while her brother and I did our craziness. These are my mom’s silly rituals, light I’m not sure what it’s for but I think it might be for life and the coins for wealth. We enjoyed pizza, piglets in blankets, Ugly Betty Marathon, and Cinderella Story… and then seeing one of J’s hula teachers on TV at one of the NYE parties downtown.

Today we just enjoyed a leisure lunch at my ‘rents. Mama’s prime rib and mashed taters. And tomorrow starts my diet. I’m so serious about that one. Eating better. Portion control. Tread Mill. No soda. Rice once a week. More greens. More fish. Less red meat. I also need to remember to take my vites and get more Calcium into my diet, b/c I canNOT drink milk.

I’m jumping all around here but you’ll get over it. The friend get together on Saturday was fun. Quite a drive down to San Jose, but we don’t have to go there all too often. The new house is still under renovation but it’s quite nice, complete with pool and spa in the backyard, so I’m sure there will be plenty of parties there for the summer. As always there is a white elephant gift exchange. There is a running gag gift for the past 5 years, a lime green fleece sweatshirt, that NO one wants to end up with. But J was commisioned to proxy for MamaToots and get that sweatshirt. He didn’t get it and ended up with an ugly lime green visor and lime green SF T. But the recipient of the coveted sweatshirt traded with J. After stealing a gift and taking a shot for stealing that gift, we ended up with a pretty cool gift. Craftsman toolbox locked with TSA lock, iPod mini speakers, iPod car quick charge, a tripod with level, a Pashmina from Italy, and 3 small packages of Fart Bomb. We scored. Our gift was a gift basket filled with miscellaneous Asian store/ Pilipino goodies: 3 bags of Shrimp Chips, 2 bags of dried mangoes, a can of calamansi juice, a can of mango juice, crispy dilis, a package of Mama Sita’s adobo mix, fish sauce, soy sauce, Mafran, vinegar, Hello Panda, Yan Yan, a jar of macapuno, and a jar of kaong… oh yeah and the basket too. It was actually pretty nice and had I not brought it I would not have minded getting it or even stealing it. There were a few other gag gifts like a purple bullet with chick lit, gift cards, DVDs, DVD games, heaters, lamps, and candles. Good fun!

So as I said… the diet starts tomorrow. Wish me luck ;)
