*Notes for Hawaii and keiki things too

May 28, 2007 – 10:52 pm

* don’t eat too much rice, if need be only 1x a day
* get J in a summer program
* work on my tan
* read some books
* learn how to use the dSLR to its full capacity
* sleep @ reasonable hours and wake @ them too
* exercise: early morning walks, ride dad’s bike, swimming, beach
* get N FULLY potty trained
* get J to do workbooks EVERYDAY
* bring karate DVDs and get him working on it every morning so he totally doesn’t fall off
* get N working on some things too

So far that’s all I’ve thought of. Which means I need to find a program for him. I’ve seen 2 different summer day camps that he can possibly do. Don’t know if he’ll be too shy about it b/c he won’t know anyone, but they look super cool. And then there’s always the tutoring camps. And then there’s the matter of getting him some workbooks too. We tried it last summer and it didn’t fair too well with him, he was all about it in the beginning, of course, and then he just slacked off. But I already know what I’m going to hold over him, his Nintendo DS (which has been my hostage for the past month, not b/c I want it I have my own, but b/c he’s been acting out) and the cartoon watching. He got morning television yanked from him as well, big mister did that one, for doing something out of character at school and getting a note sent home *gasp* Yeah I know!!!! He was the one that actually said he wanted to bring the DVDs and said he would do them in the morning. Good boy!

Lilmiss has continuous back and forth with the potty training. She does sit on the potty everyday @ every chance she can possibly get, but it’s hard when we’re out or we’re at someone else’s house and they don’t have a potty insert so she doesn’t fall in. When she wakes up, she sits. When she’s brushin her teeth, she sits. Before we leave the house, she sits. When she asks to sit, she sits. When I catch her midpoop, she sits. One day, while we were homebound, she sat every hour. It worked pretty good up until her brother came home and was in there when she should have been. Sometimes she wakes up completely dry in the morning after a long night’s sleep. But I don’t think she has control just yet. As in, she can hold it and then tell me she wants to go and we go. Nope. So with the busy schedule I’ve been holding lately, I’m just going to hold off til we get there. It shouldn’t be as hectic, I hope. So I need to remember to bring the pink bag of panties.

I’ve been working on songs, numbers, and ABCs with her too. Her songs are the funniest/ cutest things ever b/c of course she leaves words out. Her favorites right now are *Twinkle, Twinkle* and *Wheels on the Bus*. Oh yeah and the theme song on *Wonder Pets*. I’m working on the 1 to 10 and it’s going pretty well, it works when we go up and down stairs. The letters are different though, she doesn’t care too much for them. She’s only got ABC down. Heh.

ETA: I found my keys. They fell into the washing machine with a load of whites and did the full cycle. Heh. Luckily for me it didn’t short the door locker thinger for the car.

I can’t find ‘em

May 28, 2007 – 5:44 pm

Grrrrrr!!!! We just got home not too long ago, took a family day out. Treated the keiki out to a late lunch early dinner to Rainforest Cafe. Big mister got a handle of the “big gun” and took MANY photos to his delight. Seeing as how I was driving and all ;) . He said he felt like a tourist, although we were both born and raised here. But it’s always nice to get out there and just enjoy everything. Brought home some candy apples and came back to a ticket on the car :( . Boo! Thought we were free b/c of the holiday. Guess not. Took the scenic route home and as we entered the garage I stopped to finish off the laundry, while everyone else made their way upstairs.

Noooooooooowwwww…. I CAN’T FIND MY STINKIN FRICKIN FRACKIN KEYS!! And it hurts to even think where they are. I checked the dryer. I checked the clothes I pulled out the dryer. I checked out front, in case I dropped them. I checked all my clothes that I had on me. I checked my purse. I’ve gone up and down the stairs a number of times. I’ve looked in nooks and crannies in case they’ve fallen into the abyss of vinyl records we have downstairs and NOTHING! So I’m taking a break that in the hopes they’ll decide to not play tricks on me anymore and come out of hiding. *deep breath*

Nature at its best

May 27, 2007 – 10:57 pm

Do you see what I see or am I just that perverted?

Went to the Farmer’s Market last Thursday and picked a bunch of cherries. Saw this one in the bunch and threw it in my mom’s bag. And low and behold, 4 days later no one has eaten it! The ohana got a good laugh out of it today, shitsandgiggles is always good fun. Lilmiss of course didn’t quite understand what all the laughter was about and just wanted to eat the damned thing. And that she did. She popped the whole thing in her mouth and I was scared that she would choke on the pit/ stone/ seed. Alas, my girl knows how to eat cherries and I didn’t even know it. She took my mom’s hand and spit the pit into it, all clean and flesh free.

Long weekend is in full swing

May 25, 2007 – 8:46 pm

Wee’ve got a 4 day weekend as opposed to a 3 day. J was ’sposed to have a field trip today but I didn’t bother sending him. Pointless ’tis why. It was all the way in San Jose, they weren’t going to leave school til about 1030ish. Then they were going to have lunch down in SJ, in front of the museum. Go to the museum for 1.5-2hours and then head back. And all that for $9. So not worth it.

Instead we headed across the bridge. Travelled across that section of the Macarthur Maze that fell down a month ago. Stopped in Oakland for some yummy in the tummy baked goods at BakeSale Betty. Scones, brownies, cookies, lemon bars galore… and ALL yummay! Then headed through the tunnel and hit up H&M. Oh Damn! Scored on a bunch of stuff! The Clearance items were BOGO FREE!!!! And then everything else was 25% off. Wahoo. I actually got some things. 4 skirts and a jacket. Lilmiss of course got a bunch of things and lilman too. Then we walked Broadway Plaza for a bit and headed to Macy’s.

Scored these lovely sandals on sale. AACK, they’re so cute. My shoe wardrobe, not to mention my whole wardrobe, needs some serious work. I wear the same ish ALL THE TIME. If I could my feet would permanently be adorned in flip flops, which BTW I scored on some red and white Havaianas for $9 the other day. So cute.

After the shopping and walking we headed over to pick up my niece. Headed to my older nephew’s work, but he was still @ school, and ran into the younger nephew. He looked like a deer caught in the headlights when he saw me. He was all confused and didn’t understand why we were there. . Then we headed back towards the bridge. Stopped once again @ BakeSale Betty b/c all the yummy goodness we originally stopped for wasn’t enough. My mom wanted more lemon bars and brownies to share with my brother. I was hoping we could get a Fried Chicken Sandwich, but they were all sold out. Apparently they sell out by like 2pm *note to self*. My mom went in, got the goods, chatted up Blue Haired Betty herself and scored a FREE Chicken Pot Pie, $25 value. Good Lawd! What an awesome lady. Fo’ sho we’re going back.

Had a yummy yummy homecooked dinner with the fam, and now I’m home alone. The keiki stayed with my mom and big mister is at work late tonight.

Tomorrow big mister works the afternoon and we’re headed to some Hula thing in the southbay anyhow. And then Sunday there’s an anniversary event to attend at the Karate school. Monday I think movies are in the plans, but we shall see.

I’m rather tired. I was going to make it foreign movie night for myself but I think I might fall asleep watching it. Hope you’re having a lovely long weekend!

Postal Love

May 23, 2007 – 7:22 pm

Of the UPS variety. I ♥ my new purse, hehehe, camera bag. It looked smallish in the box, I got the 5million one and I had to totally check the website to make sure that it was right. I thought it came with a shoulder pad thinger. I was wrong. And again, for some reason, I thought it would have been bigger. Not that I’m complaining b/c it fits my new lovey and the cords for the battery, a pack of gum, a pack of Hello Kitty mints ;) , my wallet, and my small P&S camera, with room to spare to shove other things in it  . Yeah I know it’s supposed to be for lenses and speedlights and other camera loveys but I don’t have any of that stuff yet, so half camera bag/ half purse it shall be :D .

I can’t imagine how small the 2million is now. Wow. Talk about compact huh?

Now I have no real excuse now to leave home without the camera. YAY! I totally missed out 2x this week b/c I didn’t want to lug it around in its temporary home, in addition to my purse. We went into the city on Monday and the weather was lovely and then today took a cruise down the coast, missed opportunities, but no more!

ZZZzzzzz

May 21, 2007 – 10:47 pm

So I’ve been trying to finish this set since I came home and I’m having a hard time. Certainly NOT the comedies I’m used to. This one might have to go up on Ebay or something b/c I’m just not feeling it. And it got so highly rated on one of the forums. I have 2 other series waiting to be opened and I’m just going to hold off on the one that I was watching with my mom. I’ll just continue it once we’re back in Hawaii, or on the plane. I told her I would wait for her. And then there’s my niece who’s anxiously waiting in the wings for me to pass something on for her to watch. Oh yeah and there’s the queue on the online rental thing that has about 3 dramedies waiting. Funny I’m not so much into anything on TV as of late. All the big shows that I was into before my hiatus are in finales this week and I have so much to catch up on. So much tv, so little time. Lol.

Cooking, baking, anticipation, and leaky

May 21, 2007 – 9:13 pm

I cooked again today. Woo hoo go me and it went well with the lil ones. I cooked up some teriyaki chicken wings. One of the easiest things to make, and I squeezed a couple of oranges into the marinade, unfortunately I couldn’t taste it much. The lil man had 2 servings of the chicken and rice. Lil miss cleaned up her plate with my help. My help being that I spooned her food for her. I’ve been letting her self feed for awhile now, but cleaning her and the uncertainty of how much she’s been eating strayed me from that today. She cleaned up the whole bowl today! YAY! Shh… don’t tell the big mister but there’s a hefty container of some leftover wings in the fridge ;) .

On baking, I been wanting to bake something with raisins lately but not cookies. The other day I made some waffles and they were a big hit all around so I thought I might throw in some raisins in to the mix. That still didn’t happen though.

Anticipation for my camera bag! Acck, it’s en route and should be here either tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest.

And leaky is in reference to the lil missy’s nose. From fevers and now to a cold or something. Yeah she had teething induced fever a couple weeks and what I thought was a shake and break in the sickies, she’s got a leaky faucet of a nose. Poor thing. And b/c she’s been wiping and we’ve been wiping redness has occured under her nostrils. Which should make for some noisy sleep tonight.

*****

I remember getting a bunch of these when I was in college. Totally made me miss home seeing as how I was in Central California. Some of these totally don’t refer to me, and I really wish I had some of those ones I used to get in college. Oh well, HAPPY FRIDAY!

The princess is coming….

May 16, 2007 – 9:21 pm

…. or at least I hope so!

Tutu materials

I came across another mommy’s tutu tutorial on flickr and I’ve been meaning to pick up the supplies to make it. Well lookie whose got the goods! 4 yards of pink tulle to accompany 6 yards of the floral ribbon. And 4 yards of red tulle to accompany the 6 yards of polka dot ribbon.

The tutorial is complete with photos, but why can’t I figure the numbers out right. D’oh! Yeah I’m a bit of a geek like that. I want it to look EXACTLY like the pictures and if I take my scissors to that stuff… I just don’t know! But at only 77 cents a yard for the tulle, how can I go wrong? And then if all goes well, look out anyone who has a little girl and invites us to one of your birthday parties, b/c guess what you’re getting as a gift. Muahahaha.

It’s what’s for dinner

May 15, 2007 – 2:55 pm

Yeah tally me down for some negative mommy points. I just wasn’t in the mood for cooking yesterday. My mom, the lilmiss, and I had a late lunch so I wasn’t hungry and I was too lazy to really break out the kitchen into full mode. So sandwiches it was. Lilman had a grilled cheese sandwich with a side of chips. Lilmiss is not a sandwich fan so instead she had half a bagel with cream cheese and a small handful of chips. *tsk, tsk, tsk me all you want*. She didn’t eat the bagel at all and instead touched the cream cheese ALL OVER and finished off her chips. Lilman cleaned his plate. Yeah so I’m feeling guilty and despite feeling a teensy bit under the weather and freezing cold I have decided to break something out the freezer and cook a meal for my children… bistek and rice, with a side of tomato. Yes the tomato again. Let’s hope it comes out good!

What else

May 14, 2007 – 10:18 pm

Geez, just thought of something. Need an external hard drive of my own! And let’s not forget an extra battery. Damn me.

AAAACK

May 14, 2007 – 9:14 pm

As if I don’t have enough things to lust after, *Steph just showed me the new print for To*kidoki! ME WANT IT!!!! It’s all cute and under the sea-esque! Totally up my alley. If I had seen this first, that camera bag would probably be sitting and waiting in the wings ;)

An attempt, FAILED!

May 14, 2007 – 5:38 pm

So my mom had yet another appointment in the ♥ of the city and so the lil miss and I chauffeured her out there. It was chilly out so what would normally be a stroll to the shops ended up being a nap, for N, in the warmth of the car. My mom’s appointment wasn’t long anyhow and we scored a parking space a block from the entrance to the hospital. Being that we were in the area and it was chilly out, I made an executive decision to go to the museum. Ever since it got remodeled, I’ve been wanting to check it out. Surprisingly there was quite a bit of parking, we thought it was because it was so chilly. We walked towards the museum only to find it CLOSED! GAH! We’ve still got time though b/c a handful of museums are FREE for the month of May. No wonder there was so much parking. So instead we took a short stroll through The Str.ybing Ar.bore.tum. It was way too chilly out though, so it was a super duper quick stroll.

Expensive Hobby

May 14, 2007 – 5:22 pm

So far the shots I’ve taken with my new toy *look 2 posts down* have come out beautifully. Unfortunately this is going to be one expen$ive little hobby.

*I just ordered this bag in the brown/olive color. Thanks to the gc that my sister gave me, it cut the price down just a teensy bit.

*I was told I might want to consider getting this book from a fellow flickr friend.

*My favorite photo mama in Florida told me I also might want to consider getting this lens and this lens.

*Eventually I’d like to get a wireless remote and this speedlight.

Don’t know much else in the way of lenses though. Any suggestions?

Game on

May 13, 2007 – 9:18 pm

Diner Dash

Lil man has just informed me that Diner Dash for Nintendo DS comes out on the 17th. I’m quite excited. I’ve played the limited online version and now I’ll get to play it in the palms of my hands ;) . My games revolve around cooking and kitchen things. I’ve got Cooking Mama and Cake Mania and I ♥ them. Now I can’t wait for this to come out too!!! YAY!

Mother’s Day Love

May 12, 2007 – 11:23 pm

Can I be part of the club?

Got my gift a day early and I ♥ it so much. Got the Nikon d40 dslr. I know the d40x just came out but I researched back and forth and the d40 just seemed more sensible. Thank you to the bigmister for the love!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommas out there!

*remember if you want to see the now beautiful photos from the Nikon d40, you’ve gotta be F&F on Flickr or at least most of the time they’re F&F

Smidgen of normalcy

May 8, 2007 – 8:53 pm

Last Sunday, we got a warm welcome at hula class. Hugs all around and the girls doting over the lil man and where he had been.

Today we went back to karate. I hadn’t been there in over 2 months. Another warm welcome over there. And mostly comments of the keiki growing and getting bigger and where we had been. Simple answer of we were in Hawaii for a month.

Watching Girlmore Girls, I’m sad that it’s getting the kaputz at the end of this season  ! But it’s been a good 7 years, right?

Please excuse me as the lil miss is having a meltdown over a banket (blanket). First she wants and then she doesn’t. Just signaling to me that she needs to go to bed soon.

Keeping busy…

May 2, 2007 – 2:24 pm

Been keeping busy and it’s good b/c it keeps my mind off of things, even momentarily. Unfortunately often times things that have been on the to do list have been surrounding the loss of my dad. *sigh* But we trudge on right…

Was supposed to make pasghetti, haven’t had or made it in ages, but somehow my italian sausage got mixed up in my mom’s groceries and it is now at her house, so now I have to wait until tomorrow. Leftovers it is, luckily the Crock Pot pulled pork was a hit with the lil man. Lil miss, not so much. So maybe I’ll make her an egg or something.

Recent guilty pleasures= soap network= OC, One Tree Hill, and 90210. Back to back to back ;)

Ramblings

May 1, 2007 – 10:23 pm

I’m bored and I feel the need to ramble. I just saw a commercial for the Sonic BLT and Tropical Mango Tea for $2.99. If only we had Sonic here. And damnit if only I had my car. It’s in the stinkin shop right now. POS! We’re hopefuly getting rid of it, yes I’ve only had it for a year but it’s not working out for us, and hopefully we can get something. I’ve got my eye on 2 SUV’s. Let’s hope so. We’re hoping to get rid of my car before me and the keiki leave for the islands for the summer and when we get back.

And b/c I haven’t done one of these in a little bit… I’m gonna do it now. All thanks to Monica…
