Expensive Hobby

May 14, 2007 – 5:22 pm

So far the shots I’ve taken with my new toy *look 2 posts down* have come out beautifully. Unfortunately this is going to be one expen$ive little hobby.

*I just ordered this bag in the brown/olive color. Thanks to the gc that my sister gave me, it cut the price down just a teensy bit.

*I was told I might want to consider getting this book from a fellow flickr friend.

*My favorite photo mama in Florida told me I also might want to consider getting this lens and this lens.

*Eventually I’d like to get a wireless remote and this speedlight.

Don’t know much else in the way of lenses though. Any suggestions?

  2. Expensive, yes. I have both lenses, but haven’t put any effort into the Tamron lens just yet. The book is great, so that is a must have! I really can’t believe how expensive camera bags are. I have two and the price is just yikes!

Oh, are you going to buy a tokidoki bag from the new series (or have already)? I got the Bambinone in the main print. I can’t wait to get it!

  3. i have a crumpler in the same color, the smaller one though. i love it :) i was sharing your good news w/my hubby, he was saying something about the lenses you mentioned (or any AF-D lens) not being totally compatible w/the d40…something about the auto focus not working w/your model camera (you’d always have to focus manually, i think?) you’d need to find AF-S lenses. he has pretty good knowledge about this kind of stuff (i totally don’t!), so just thought i’d let you know just in case :)

  4. the tamron is an awesome lens and ive owned 2 of them. a little noisy and slow (if i remember correctly) when focusing but overall its definitely worth the price. if i had never found a canon 24-70 at a good price i would still be using the tamron today. a popular lens seems to be the 18-200 but its heavy and im not fond of zoom lenses with such a wide range.

  5. What about the Tamron 17-55? I tried D’s and I looooove it. It’s next on my wish list!
