Shopping

June 29, 2007 – 12:38 am

So it’s funny how things range in price here. A gallon of whole milk at the regular grocery store runs you about $7.29. Like OMG!!! Yeah! Costco doesn’t sell the Kirkland brand of milk here either, ya know the kind in the box that comes with 2 1-gallon jugs, that I swear sells for about $5 in the mainland. We’ve found that Kmart is the cheapest @ $3.89 a gallon.

I’ve found some super good deals on clothes here too, b/c the need for sweaters, long sleeve tops, and long pants isn’t much here especially this time of year, or really any time of the year really. I found a super cute crocheted sweater with bell sleeves at BabyGap for $4.97! YOWZA! And a pair of shoes too for $3.97. And then a pair of warm up pants for the boy at OldNavy for $3.97.

Planning a super duper small shindig for the lilmissy’s birthday for next month. So kuwawa :( , not our usual blasts that we’ve had for lilman, but it’s okay. We’ll invite the kids from next door have some pancit and cake and a few other goodies and we should be good to go. Been trying to think up some goodie bag things, found 24 count packs of Cray.ola crayons @ Walm.art for 20 cents and 6 pack of Miracle Bubbles for $1.89. Was thinking I need to go to Maru.kai and see what other goods I can find and some candy/snacks and those should be good to go!

Aloha Friday!!!

1 week down

June 27, 2007 – 10:08 pm

1 week of being in the islands is coming to a close. The weather has been a bit windy, which means there’s been Portuguese Man of War warnings at the beaches. Which means no beaching for us as of yet. I’m not complaining though b/c we’ve been spending quite a bit of time down at the neighborhood pool, and the nice thing about it is that it’s FREE :D . I likes that word! There’s always 2 lifeguards on duty too, and for the first time EVER, I saw one of them have to jump in the water and help a little boy. Nevermind that his mom was in the water *shakes head*, she didn’t even do anything to help him, she was too concerned with playing with her daughter. So the 2 lifeguards on watch were closely watching him, didn’t seem to bother his mom much either.

The only thing I dislike about the pool is the smell of chlorine on my body, nevermind that I’ve taken showers and scrubbed. Nothing seems to work. But then I think I’d rather deal with the smell of chlorine than the sand all up in the nooks and crannies!

Mo-mo-mochi

June 25, 2007 – 1:55 pm

I have been dying to try some fresh strawberries wrapped in mochi and now I get the chance :D . We just put in an order for some and we get to pick it up on Friday! The other ones we ordered were the Haupia Sweet Potato and just the Haupia.

This place only takes orders, otherwise we would have eaten some already  . You gotta order by Thursday in order for Friday and weekend delivery.

I’m seriously hoping it’s as good as it looks b/c it doesn’t come cheap!

Getting adjusted

June 24, 2007 – 9:19 pm

Okay I think I’ve adjusted to the weather and the time change. I like getting up early though, so it’s kinda nice. And I go to sleep rather early too.

Today we trolled the malls, to beat the heat and get out of the house. Seeing as how for the past 2 days we didn’t go anywhere other than church and the Farmer’s Market, it wasn’t as crowded as I had expected it to be, considering it’s the weekend and all. My mom wanted to hit up Cos.tco too, but I’m figuring maybe that’s where everyone else was b/c there weren’t as many people at Pear.lrid.ge. There’s a neat robots exhibit there so lilman got a kick out of that. Got some super duper cute things for the lilmiss at G.ap and at such great deals. Spotted the same stuff in the mainland but they were priced more and not many in her size. So it kinda rocks to find it all here. I think it’s b/c there’s a different sense of style and need for clothes here. I also picked up some knick knacks and toys for the keiki and some books for the lil man. I still need to get me something to read for myself though!

I’m hoping to hit up the beach sometime this week. I’m just dreading the crowded-ness being summer and all.

Aloha… again

June 20, 2007 – 11:26 pm

Okay so we’ve landed, a few hours ago. And it’s HOT :( . Like miserable hot! Blech! Sweaty and clothing sticking to your body hot. I was hoping for some yummy Korean plate lunch goodness for lunch, but we had guests over to feed and that wouldn’t have been cost effective. Instead we had KFC. Ahahaha. Mom’s is not in cooking mode just yet, and well the house is lacking of food other than canned goods and rice. Oh yeah and lots of beverages, unfortunately none of which were cold when we got home.

This trip I won’t be living out of a suitcase which is nice :D . We each got a drawer, a stuffed one at that, in the room that we’re sleeping. The lilmiss and me anyhow. The boy is sleeping with my mom and my niece gets her own room and bed. Sheesh. So yeah I’ve already unpacked the majority of my goods.

We’ve already made it down the hill too for some dessert. McD’s no longer has the haupia pie, but now there’s a Taro Pie. It’s ‘aight. I still like the haupia better though. MsGracie said there’s a banana one too, but I’m not too keen on that. So yeah pies and ice cream were had. And now I’m in bed, or on top of it. It’s too hot, I’m telling you!

Hopefully I can bust out the big gun tomorrow and take some pictures b/c people are hounding me already  .

My niece needs to check her M.ysp.ace so off I go. Sleep is calling my name anyhow.

T minus 2 days

June 18, 2007 – 2:53 pm

Give or take a few hours and minutes.
The weekend is done. Who I needed to hang out with, I did.
And then some.
Ohana pictures today. Done.
And they’re actually decent ;) .
Last time we took photos was when J was 2.
We have added another member to the family since then.
We’re supposed to be spending QT time.
We’re each on our own laptops, save for the wee one asleep on the couch.
We’re all in the same room, does that count?
Why do I feel like I still have so much to do?
And yet… I sit here and waste time.
Oh well… Ahahaha.
Happy Monday!

Why now?

June 14, 2007 – 10:28 pm

Okay so I leave next week. My “friends” have known about my leaving, since I touched down when I came back last time. Why are the majority of them waiting til now to spend time with me? As if I don’t have enough things to do right now I’ve gotta put some time aside for dinners and brunches that honestly I don’t care to go to. Yeah, I’m a bitch, I already knew that. Didn’t you?

Time for some progress. I brought up the duffel that me and the keiki are sharing to put our clothes in. Yeah I know that we are allowed 2- 50lb parcels each, but my mom is using that with boxes of her stuff. We’re just bringing clothes and shoes and such, and we’ve already all got a few things that we left there from last time. I had been setting aside N’s summer/ new clothes in a pile and today that pile got thrown into the duffel. I still need to sift through my own clothes and those of J. GAH!

I also started a load of laundry. Which by the way just finished the wash cycle and needs to make it into the dryer. 2-3 more loads to go. I’ve also gotta do some sheets and towels before we leave.

*Comes up for a breath of air

June 13, 2007 – 8:20 pm

Busy, busy, busy. I even tried to update the keiki blog at blogsome, but I can’t remember my login stuffs so I just created them a blogger account. Ahahaha. so lazy. I need to get a prettier look to it. But I need to breath some of this free time I have, which I should actually be spending doing laundry and packing. But nope. I’m not. BLAH!

12:13AM

June 11, 2007 – 12:46 am

and I’m done. I cried. It’s sad. the end.

Geekish

June 10, 2007 – 10:41 pm

*looks down* I’m nearly done with that latest installment. I haven’t had a book peak my interest like this in quite some time. I need a happy ending though, and I don’t think I’m going to get it. I’ve been reading the book on and off since I got home from the meet up. Save for giving the lil man a hair trim, a bath for the wee one, washing the car, going out to get dinner for the fam, eating dinner, and getting ready for bed. Just checking on some flickring right now and back to the book I go. I’m determined to see how it turns out. I’ve had skurry moments, and even heart racing sweaty palm kinda moments with this book. That’s why I need to see how it ends. Crappy thing is we don’t meet up for over 3 months, so I’ll definitely have to revisit this one when I get back from paradise.

In other news, I’ve found the hairstyle that I want and it was on good ol’ Voodoo! I like it. I like it a lot that I busted out the camera on her and took some shots of her hair-do. Now it’s a matter of getting to her stylist before I head out. A new look should do me good. I hope. Heh.

Back to the book….

4th Installment

June 10, 2007 – 4:04 pm

So today I met with some ladies for our Ladies Literary Lunch, aka the Book Club. We met to discuss our last book and we were given the next installment, which it seems I’m already into. Quite intriguing. Very rich in language. I’ve had to underline a few words already, just for knowledge sake. Ahaha. I’m feeding my brain, which hasn’t happened in awhile  . Pathetic, I know.

*gambreled comes from the word gambrel which according to the dictionary is a noun but in the sense of the usage for this word it seems to be a verb, as in the ham was gambreled. Anyhow according to dictionary.com, a gambrel is a stick or iron for suspending slaughtered animals.

I was going to start a list of new reference words to enter here but it seems the ones I don’t seem to know don’t seem to fit in where I’m looking or don’t seem to make sense in the sentences that he’s used them in the book.

The book has peaked my interest and I’m hoping I can finish it soon, as I have a book that I’ve been holding onto from another friend and haven’t bothered to even crack it open.

Why I might be MIA

June 8, 2007 – 10:14 pm

I forgot how addicting Animal Crossing could be. I had it for the GameCube and used to stay up just wandering round and round. Now I find myself doing the same thing. I can’t seem to get past a level on both Diner Dash and Cake Mania… so I’m subject to wasting time with this game.

Fritzi

June 7, 2007 – 10:21 pm

My stinkin media reader is on the fritz. Ah poo! It did this to me in Hawaii too and obviously I wiggled it enough to get some photos out of it. It happened again a couple weeks ago but again I wiggled and banged it enough that I could milk the photos out. I’ve been banging and wiggling for the past hour and still nothing :( . And I’m too lazy to bust out the other wires and the actual cameras and hook them up to the laptop to milk out photos. Lil man had a handle of the P&S and took some random, crrrrrrrazy photos. He likes to think that he has inherited the camera. HA! As if. I still need it to take video, but more or less I allow him to “play” with it. It amuses him quite a bit. At the party last weekend let’s just say there was a lot of photos of beer and the camera even went into the bathroom. Yeah.

The reason I wanted to load photos was b/c tonight was homemade burrito night. First time event, and it went well. I took a picture of the burrito all prettied up, before it got devoured but it sits in the media card. So no salivating for you. I thinly sliced a London Broil and marinated it in some fajita seasoning. Cooked up some onions and threw in the marinated beef. Cracked open a can of whole black beans, rinsed them, and mixed them up with a tablespoon of BBQ sauce. Made a package of Spanish rice. CHopped up some cilantro and tomatoes. And assembled. There was also sour cream and cheese. And instead of regular old flour tortillas, I used spinach and sun dried tomato and basil ones. YUM! I thought for sure the lil man would get freaked by the color of the spinach ones, they’re green, but he devoured that sucker! Lilmiss had the meat, rice, and beans separately, although she loves tortillas. I just envisioned mess wth her. She ate 2 servings. Like WHOAH, and she did NOT disappoint with the mess. Gah!

So yeah no flickring for awhile I guess, until I figure something out.

Stick a fork in me- I’m stuffed!

June 3, 2007 – 9:43 pm

We went to a baptism today and we ate a whole bunch of yumminess. It was down in the southbay and the reception was held at an AYCE Sushi Bar. But the food wasn’t on boats, it was made to order. OH YUM! Lots of spicy tuna, Lion King rolls, and just all around yummy in the tummy goodness. If you’re a sushi afficionado and can eat and appreciate some grub, and be able to get your grub on, I totally recommend the place. It’s called Su*shi Fact*ory in San Jose. Over indulgence fo’sho! And then the cake was another yummy in the tummy concoction. One of the ninangs brought it, they had it at their showers and wedding even. It’s this banana/ banana creme cake thing that comes like nearly 12 inches HIGH. Yeah for reals! It’s no wonder the keiki haven’t asked for anything to eat, save for some cherries, since we got home.

I get chance ;)?

June 1, 2007 – 10:16 pm

Thanks 6togo for giving me the heads up!!!

I’ve seen “my man” 2x in real life, and I actually got to HOLD HIM *giddy*. I have proof and if you’ve never seen it, then that’s too bad. I have it but my smile looks so goofy  . I’ve also met his wife and she’s an amazing woman. I sat next to her, when he wasn’t so big and I didn’t even know who the hell he was. Very nice woman with a good head on those shoulders. I’m actually sad they’re breaking up. *gasp* Although I would looooooooove to be with him, she was a better match for him. Heh.

Missing her

June 1, 2007 – 10:01 pm

I “chaperoned” the lilman on a field trip to Six Flags Marine World Discovery Kingdom, and I decided to leave the lilmiss home and be baby free today. I just didn’t want to hassle with her, have to worry about the stroller, fight her as she would want to get out and walk (which in turn what do I do with the stroller?), and have to carry all that extra baggage. And it was a lovely carefree kinda day :D !!! But I’m sad. B/c I miss her :( . I woke up @ 630 this morning and tucked the blankies round her and made sure to give her a lil peck. I closed the door in case she woke up while I was getting ready and we were on our way. And now… I don’t get to see her til 2morrow morning, when I retrieve her from my mom.

Big Mister is mixing @ the second chance Prom and the headliner from that is Jor*dan Kni*ght *swoons* LMAO! He’s texting me and telling me he’s good! LoL. As if I didn’t already know that ;) . I had the opportunity to go but I didn’t want to dress up, I would have been by my lonesome (bigmister is working), and I was on the field trip anyhow.

In other news, I’ve been seriously considering cutting my hair. Don’t know what I want to do with it though. It’s just looking scraggly (LMAO, as if that’s a word!). I would looooooove something wash and go, but we all know that’s not happening with my froish tendency hair. But I want something simple and to cut some of the length *gasp* did I say that? Hardly do I ever want to cut more than a few inches, but this time I think I do. I can’t hang on to hair forever, right? And it’ll grow back anyhow.

Eh, don’t mind me just rambling… Have a lovely weekend.
