Pottiness

August 29, 2007 – 8:28 pm

So the potty training quest is going well *knocks on wood*! We actually made it out of the house 2x today in the panties! Woo hoo!

The first was a 1.5 hour jaunt out of the house to pick up the lilman from his first day of 3rd grade. I made sure she pottied before we left the house. Strapped her in the stroller and made the trek up the hill. We were early, so we hung out at my old work, the preschool. There are mini potties (the kind just like the regular toilets just smaller and lower to the ground) there so when we were there I asked her a number of times if she had to go. I took her once and I think the 2 girls in there were distracting her. Then she went in again on her own.

We also made it out of the house today for some lunch and a jaunt to Tarjey. I needed some nose and cough meds and lilman managed to squeeze a Ben1o toy out of me. And again still in dry panties!!! Woo hoo!

The other day we took my mom to her appt in the city. There’s a park that I used to take J to when he was a wee one. The park is really yuppy! a big mix of 30 something moms, adopted babies, and lots of nannies. Anyhow we minded our business, everyone seemed to know each other. As we were leaving, there was a little girl in the BUCK! sitting on a potty!!!! And across from her was another little girl, clothed, but also sitting on a potty. I understand potty training is a crucial time, hey we’re doing it too. But I thought the potty seats in the middle of the playground were a bit much! What happens when you don’t have a potty readily available and she’s at a park? OY! Before today, anytime we went out of the house, N was clad in diaper. She hardly ever wets it, but it’s for those just in case moments, I just don’t trust the pubic potties sometimes, and she’s very skeptical of them anyhow. I think it’s that HUGE hole and her tiny toosh and the fear of falling in. Understandable. And still for those few hours she wore/ wears the diaper she is still more than capable of being potty trained and toting the panties. YAY!

YUCKS!

August 28, 2007 – 8:59 pm

I finally, finally caught whatever bug my mom has and I’m feeling miserable. My head feels so stinkin heavy. My nose is stuffed. I feel like there’s a piece of lint in my throat, hence the hacking cough I’ve been having. And then there’s the lovely headache that I get every now and then. Not fun! I’m really, really hoping no one else in this house gets it, b/c that would REALLY suck. I had such a bad night last night that I decided to bust out the cold mist humidifier in the hopes that it might help me to get some sort of sleep tonight.

Heh, with the warm weather we’re currently having it’s kinda acting like an air conditioner. It’s supposed to be a scorcher tomorrow as well as J’s first day at the new school.

With his new school, comes a new schedule. This school doesn’t have after school care included so I can’t just leave him there if I needed to. BLAH! I need to be there promptly at 2:50PM. No more lollygagging and shopping and whatevers. Oh well.

The mommy in me hasn’t returned yet either. I made his lunch, but there have been NO homecooked meals. The house is upside down since we emptied out some closets. And there are still remnants of suitcases and vacation things dispersed about the house.

We had plans for the long weekend, despite the bridge closures, but those are even up in the air at the moment. The host family is having some issues right now, so we don’t know what’s going on. Other than that I can’t think of what else to do with the extra day.

Time to down some meds, drink some water, and try to sleep. The lil miss beat me to it tonight, she’s already sleeping. I’m seriously hoping this is not a sign that she’s come down with the ickies too!

We’re home

August 25, 2007 – 12:56 am

BLAH! As you can see I’d much rather be back in the islands. I think, or at least I hope, I just need to get back into the swing of things. After all it’s only been 2 nights since we’ve gotten back.

Lilmiss is aving issues nearly every night, she calls out for my mom. She ended up sleeping with her for the two months we were there, so it’s to be expected that she would look for her bedmate. It’s getting better, we see my mom during the day anyhow. But she’s going back to Hawaii next month *sigh*.

UGH! I’m having to deal with some theft! Yeah shittyness! Thankfully my bank caught it and I got back to them quick! Makes me NOT want to deal with online bill paying and shopping anymore. I just need to remember to call them back. People suck man!

Lilman starts school on Wednesday. We’re all set in the way of new school clothes, new backpack, and a new lunchbox. But I’ve gotta get the school supplies. Which used to be my favorite part of back to school, but with last year’s crappy/ slim pickin’s I’m not looking forward to it. Especially so close to the start of the first day.

So yeah we’re home.

T-minus 2 days and some minutes here and there

August 19, 2007 – 9:40 pm

It’s crunch time. It’s time to head back home. Time to head back to reality. No more vacation. *sigh* No more beaching. No more shorts and tank weather.

Last night I sent a box of stuff home with the nephews. And I still have so much more to bring home. AIYAH! As is always the case when I come here. And once again as I look at all the stuff, not one thing for me. Not one thing for anyone else. Save for some candy for the bigmister and some coffee for MamaToots and chocolate for PapaToots. All of it for my stinking keiki.

Today we didn’t have much planned so I took the keiki out to Wai.kele. Found some jeans for J for $4.99, and some other odds and ends for them. Saw Mart.in Nievera walking around with some peoples too. Almost, almost worked up something to go and say Hey and get a picture. Of course I didn’t bother.

I’m hoping to squeeze in one more beach day. Hopefully tomorrow. But I know my mom has a pretty tight schedule until we leave, so I’ll just play it by ear. I really, really, really loathe being a chauffeur. BLAH! Totally and completely sucks. Oh well, huh?

If I could be sweet….

August 13, 2007 – 9:26 pm

Unfortunately I have my ring tone of Gwen’s “Sweet Escape” in my head right now, hence the title. I can’t think of anything at the moment. I had something last night but blogsome wasn’t being kind to me. Looks to be they were updating to something pretty.

Anyhow a little over a week left here. I can’t believe 2 months is nearly up. It doesn’t seem we’ve been here all that long. We’re currently on hurricane watch. Flossie is on the move south of where we are. Lilman has got his panties in a bunch over the hurricane and I’m not being so nice as to tell him it’s not really going to hit hard where we are. At least I’m hoping it doesn’t! We’re only supposed to expect some rain and showers. The winds have definitely been kicking up though.

Last week we celebrated 2 birthdays, mine and the lilman’s. Very low key for both just dinners with family. Can you believe that J is 8!!!!!! Good Lord! 8!!!!! Dude if that’s not a sign that I’m getting old, then I don’t know what is.

When we get back home it’s back to the grind. No more sitting back and letting someone else cook dinner. BLAH! No more of my mom insisting that she do the laundry. And I have to step up my game and actually become Mommy again. LoL. I don’t know how lilmiss is going to handle it. She’s joined to my mom’s hip and wants nothing to do with me most times. The potty training is certainly coming along. YAY! She still has her moments but if we keep on her enough and just take her despite her not wanting to be taken, everyone is happy!

I’ve got loads of things to bring back home. None for me. None for the big mister. Nothing even to give anyone else. All for the kids and mostly in the form of clothes. Oh well.

Happy Birthday Mom!

August 3, 2007 – 11:18 pm

Today we celebrated my mom’s birthday. Nothing much, I woke up to the sounds of the house phone and her cell phone ringing and ringing and RINGING! Remember there’s a 3 hour time difference from where MOST of the people we know were calling her from, so it was a rather early morning for me. She wasn’t even home. Heh! She snuck off to church, as a tradition that BOTH my parents do.

I’m the night owl in the house, I stay up wil the wee hours of the night, finding time to myself and my thoughts. And it seems the phones have been ringing earlier and earlier from the mainland folks. DAMN THEM. Heh.

But anyhow yeah, long and early day! She got home only to rush us out of the house in order to make it to Friday Farmer’s Market in Ewa Beach. Normally we leave super early b/c once tht horn sounds people scramble like craziness. I can’t believe today we left an hour later than our usual time and still managed to get a few things. After that we stopped off at McD’s to feed the kids and get my mom an Iced Coffee and a Taro Pie! Yeah McD’s and BK have iced coffees out here. I asked my sister if they had it out in the mainland. And she said NOPE! Hmmm!!! Interesting. Thought it was a summer promo, but nope. Just another quirky thing they have here in the islands. And actually they’re quite tasty and much cheaper than the ‘Bucks.

We came home to eat said breakfasts and then it was back out of the house for some leisurely hanging out. Mom had to pay a bill and I had some school shopping to do with those lovely F&Fs that Mama Toots so graciously sent out my way!!! Got a ton of good loot at Ga.p but not too much at Ol.dNav.y. Then we came home, rested up a bit, *meaning I took one of my usual naps. And then it was off to dinner.

We had been struggling with my mom all week about where she wanted to go for dinner. She finally decided on Max’s. It turned out to be a yummy dinner. We order the half chicken, lechon kawali, pancit bihon, ensaladang talong, the Max teaser (appetizers: calamares and lumpiang shanghai), steamed rice, and finished off with the halo halo. We were waddling out of there by the time we were done. It was a little more than enough, but we managed to finish it off save for a scoop of rice. Delish! I spied a certain someone’s mommy AGAIN! Heh! Now if only I could “run into” a few other people like that randomly while I’m still out here!

We had to walk it off a bit so we went into Savers. My mom got some vases and that’s about it. And then more walking over at WalMa.rt. And then finally home.

A full day. I’m sure my mom was thinking of my dad, just like I was at certain times. But I hope we made her day a good one nonetheless.
