Random babblings #2

November 28, 2007 – 4:41 pm

Lilmiss had me cut her open a Fuji apple b/c J was finishing off his apples from lunch. He had the precut prepackaged kind from Costco. But I don’t like the way they taste b/c they’re treated with some stuff to keep them from browning. And maaaaaaaaaaaaan this apple of N’s is deeeee-licious!

They’re playing nice right now. Which is often rare, normally someone is yelling at someone else b/c someone has taken something of someone else’s *sigh*.

I want to go to Old Navy and I’m not sure what’s stopping me. Laziness? Perhaps? Maybe we should’ve gone right after I picked J up from school, and I didn’t plop myself on the couch.

It’s cold here, but shhhh don’t tell the bigmister that. We haven’t booted up the heater yet and some of the windows still stay open @ night

Someone want to come over and clean my house?

All I want for Christmas…

November 26, 2007 – 5:21 pm

Following suit of Ms Nikki, I’ll post a bit of some Christmas wish listings.

The lilmiss is all about kitchens right now, we’re working on it. Too bad I’m finding deals here and there and then prettier ones with heftier prices. Been looking for accessories for said kitchen, but I’m not all about all the clutter. As if we don’t need more. I happened on an ADORABLE Hello Kitty kitchen set on Black Friday and swooped that up in a second. It’s stinkin cute, I’m telling you! Chef’s hat, apron, oven mit, and dish towel all in HK print as well as a wooden rolling pin and spatula! SCORE! Also happened on the musical tea set, made of plastic that I had been eyeing for her. Should go well with the kitchen items! She’s also all about Disney princesses. Yes we’re in THAT stage. She wants an Ariel and a Snow White to complete her collection, but with all the kitchen doo dads I think she’ll be plenty of entertained. I also picked up her a few clothes here and there.

For the lilman, he’s all about techy and geeky stuff. He wants an iPod nano, not sure if the daddy is working on that one. He also wants a phone, but he has no need for one b/c he’s never without one of us unless he’s at school. He wants a couple DS games as well as Wii games but he hasn’t set his sights on anything in particular yet. He needs to hurry though b/c I don’t want to be scrambling. There’s also some Justice League set that he wants from TRU, that hopefully they’ll still have. Picked him up a puffer vest as well as some sweaters.

The bigmister says he expressed an interest in the GI Joe 25th anniversary set, and that’s @ TRU with the lilman’s JL set. I know he’s looking for Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii as well. He wanted a laundry sorter, and he already opened and set that up. Other than that, he’s a hard one to shop for as he normally just gets what he wants and doesn’t wait for Christmas.

Me, hmmm… I do want some new tennies. I haven’t bought new tennies in HELLA long, but I’m not into anything in particular. An sb-600 for my Nikon. Makeup doesn’t sound bad either, but I also need someone to teach me how to put the stuff on. A harddrive update for my laptop as well as some RAM. An iPhone wouldn’t be bad either ;) . A maid to come clean my house.

I went, I spent, I barely survived

November 23, 2007 – 6:37 pm

Nearly 12 hours out. Yes. 12. Mama Toots and Brother Toots picked me up at 10:30PM and we headed down to Gilroy for midnight madness. We had been anticipating these events for quite some time. . Bigmister loaded my wallet and stayed home with the keiki while I shopped and shopped. Unfortunately we forgot about the traffic and line up to get OFF the freeway @ the exit so travelling 2 miles took 1.5 HOURS. Yeah stupid!

But it was worth it for all the savings that happened. We were armed with our arsenal of coupons and an attack plan of where we wanted to go. My list is nearly wiped clean with the exception of 4-6 people. Niiiiiiiiice eh? Happened on a store that wasn’t in the plan but walked out with some good stuff! YAY :D !!!! And even bought things for people that I had forgot to put on the list. YAY!!!!

But what the hell, everyone and their mama was there. For reals. Some of the stores I just could not understand the snaking lines to just get INSIDE! Crazy. We finally left that area around 6AM. Yeah we’re crazies huh? But the savings they were offering us early birds was completely and utterly worth it.

We made a stop @ the mall and finally called it, er… a morning @9AM. Whew.

I ate some breakfast and then fell into a nice deep slumber. Had to get up though as the bigmister had to head to work and my mommy duties resumed.

Lilman is enjoying a video game at the moment and the lilmiss is curled up in her blankie taking a nap. she was getting cranky. woo boy! I might just curl up next to her and nap again.

How was your black friday?

(Happy) Thanksgiving

November 22, 2007 – 10:43 pm

It was difficult when I woke up this morning. It was difficult on the drive to my sister’s. At times it was difficult at my sister’s. I’ve been told that the first couple of holidays will be difficult. Yeah that’s no joke. It hurts. It hurts to know that he wasn’t the one to wake up at the crack of dawn to start the turkey, as tradition has been. It hurts to NOT see him in his shorts despite how cold it is. It hurts to NOT hear my parents bicker as the preparations occur in the kitchen. It hurts to not see him napping on the couch when he’s supposed to be watching football but he won’t release the remote to anyone. It hurts to not see him sneek pickings here and there. It hurts to not hear my kids pick on my dad. My dad, it hurts that he’s not here. I know that he’s around in spirit. It’s no joke that he was with us. The lilmiss stopped to talk to him during our dinner and it was nice but at the same time it hurt, it hurt that I had to leave the room and cry. My family believes that certain scents/ smells that “appear” are also “signs” of sorts that they’re with us. He was with me. My sister said he was with her in the kitchen probably assisting her in cooking the turkey.

Not having my mom here didn’t help my feelings for today either. Having her across the ocean and a phone call away where I couldn’t just reach out and hug her made today difficult. What more my WHOLE family save for the bigmister and the keiki here for Christmas is going to be super hard. *sigh*

I am thankful though. Thankful for a man that stands by me and works so hard to give us everything we have and then some. Thankful for my kids, they bring me so much joy that I couldn’t imagine my life without them. Thankful for the roof over my head, a car to drive, and all the superficial things that I don’t need but I do have. Thankful for my family despite the headaches, I’m glad they’re mine. Thankful for my friends near and far who stand beside me and accept me for who I am. Thankful for all the food that I consumed today b/c I am stuffed to the core of my being.

I’m soon to be off to spend some of the mister’s hard earned money for some midnight madness shopping. Good thing for my short nap and thankfully I’m NOT the one driving. Heh. Hopefully you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Despite some people missing from mine, I honestly did enjoy my turkey day and I am thankful. I am.

Not the SAME Street

November 20, 2007 – 12:01 pm

18medium600.1
HILARIOUS! From Yahoo! on the front page, which came by way of the NY Times… Not the same street! Old episodes not suitable for children! Honestly I can’t stand to watch the new shows. J used to looooooooove Elm.o’s World. But with N it just seems soooooo babyish! The way he talks. The subjects. The bouncing around. She’s not even interested so it’s good and fine we don’t watch Se.same Stre.et, and it’s sad to say considering I grew up on the stuff… but then again what does that say considering what they’re saying about these old episodes?

Super *tired* Mom

November 20, 2007 – 12:15 am

So I had an extensive grocery list to tackle today. I hit up Trade.r Joe’s, Saf.eway, and Luck.y’s thinking that everyone would have either gone over the weekend already or will be last minute laggers and tackle their lists on Wednesday. Boy was I wrong! I thought for sure it would be fast, easy in and out action. Not quite. The parking lots were full and so were most of the aisles. I think the solace I had was that the checkout lines weren’t too bad. Close to $100 spent on groceries just for Wednesday and Thursday. Sheesh! Thankfully I squeezed in dinner items too.

I’m still not done though :( . Yeah whoah is me. Heh! I saved the Asian market for tomorrow, that’s where I get the majority of my produce. *Note to self: cilantro, tomatoes, green onions, and won ton wrappers. Should be easy enough. Let’s hope so.

For dinner tonight I made baked chicken, steamed rice, and steamed asparagus. Easy Peasy! The baked chicken I just sprinkled with garlic salt and squeezed some fresh lemon on it. Both kids licked their plates clean. YAY! I love when that happens. I also managed to bake a 2 layer chocolate cake. Ahahaha… don’t ask, I just felt like it. I normally just do cupcakes but those never get finished off here at home. That’s just too much cupcake-ness. And no it wasn’t from scratch. Box is a-okay in this house ;) . I frosted it with vanilla frosting even.

So our bellies are full. The fridge is stocked. Kids are asleep. I’m thinking we’re staying home from karate and hula tomorrow just to save me some sanity. I’ve got some things to prep and don’t want to wear myself down too much. And then the eating shall commence and then for some SHOPPING!!!!!

Friends & Family

November 18, 2007 – 8:40 pm

Had some friend and family time this weekend as well as used the G.ap F&F discount! YAY!

On Friday the festivities @ the Embarcadero were fun! Carnival games and free prizes are always a big hit. Free balloon animals, free face painting, and a free visit and pictures with Sant.a. We missed the building lights and the ice skating show but it’s all good we had hungry folks in our party. Lilmiss was knocked out by the time I got on the freeway and for the rest of the night.

On Saturday we headed down the peninsula to our favorite Chev.y’s location for some $3.99 Fresh Mex action. Yummy for our tummies. Then headed to Bri.dgepointe b/c the bigmister wanted to indulge in some video games for he and the lilman. Checked out some toys for the keiki @ TRU and now they have an idea of what they’re going to ask Santa for. The rest of the night we hung out at home.

Today I had a date with Mama Vtown and baby allergy. We headed to Ston.estown to try and use the Ga.p F&F. I only picked up the bigmister some shirts. The girls ran around and screamed and played and delighted with each other  . Lilmiss was upset that we couldn’t go to their house. And instead fell asleep in the car upset so I headed to Burling.ame to see what goods they had. There was where I found some goods. For the lilmiss: this jacket, this t-shirt, and a pink sparkly corduroy skirt that isn’t on the site. For the lilman this scarf and the matching gloves since it’s gettin chilly in the mornings. That’s it for the F&F stuff. I’m actually anticipating the Ol.d Na.vy F&F b/c there are so many more things that I can get for the keiki there.

I’ve got some major grocery shopping haulage to be done tomorrow. Hope you had a lovely weekend.

Aloha Friday!!!!

November 16, 2007 – 2:28 pm

I’m gearing up for a night on the town with the keiki and the Toots family. I have been instructed to take photos. Actually it was demanded of me  . I’ve been totally slacking in that department, I know! I’m going to try but I’m also not promising anything.

When we went to the park the other day I brought the camera and took the camera out, shot off a few shots, but nothing spectacular. The strange thing was that a nanny was out there with “her” child and asked me if we were from the city. PUHLEASE!!!! Born and raised girlie. I bet we were more OG than she was! Anyhow b/c I was taking pictures she assumed we were from out of town. First off we were out of town we would’ve been at a more well known park like Children’s in Golden Gate.

Made some Hawaiian fried rice for me and the lilmiss for our lunch today. What does my version consist of? Leftover white rice, chopped garlic, chopped onion, Portuguese sausage cut up, scrambled eggs, frozen mixed veggies, green onions, and some seasonings. YUM! Lilmiss must’ve been starved she had 2 bowls full. She ate what I was planning to finish off. How rude. This will be the same rice dish we’re bringing to our friends’ Thanksgiving get together next Wednesday.

I need to wash the dishes, finish getting ready, and tidy up before we pick up lilman from school and then head over to the Toots house so we can caravan to our night on the town ;) .

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Next week’s festivities in EATING!!!

November 14, 2007 – 10:51 pm

We’ve got a friends’ shindig Wednesday night. I was going to bring baked spaghetti but instead I think I’m going to make some Hawaiian fried rice. I’ve got some frozen porta-geeeeee sausage in there that needs to be cooked up and eaten and appreciated! Let’s hope they gobble it up and appreciate it like my keiki do.

On Thursday I’m feeling a lil weird about being that this will be my first Thanksgiving without my parents *sigh*. So I’ve opted to avoid anyone and hang out with my sister and her lil family. I don’t know how that will fare b/c a majority of the time my sister is a melting mess of babbling tears. Pfft!

I’ve gotta bring appetizers and sodas/ juice and I’ve been on a quest to try something different… ya think THIS is different enough??? I’m just worried it might be too funky monkey  . I’m gonna use ground turkey instead though. It should work right? And then I think THIS even in the sweet Hawaiian bread *slurp*. I’m slated ro bring 3 appetizers and I think the 3rd might be taco dip. Easy enough. huh?

Here’s hoping I don’t stuff myself that I can’t make it back home in time to go shopping with Mama Toots. Yeah Midnight Madness has my name all over it. Thankfully the keiki will be snug as bugs at home with the daddy.

Hello Kitty makes her debut????

November 13, 2007 – 9:00 pm

The keiki and I went and hung out at the mall today, had dinner, and walked around. Went by Macy’s and saw a poster for the annual Thanks.giv.ing day Par.ade.

Dude I remember waking up to the wonderful smells of my parents’ cooking and plopping in front of the telly to watch the parade. Oohing and ahhing over the cool balloons and floats and envying those people standing there in the cold and sometimes rain  . My kids have no interest in it whatsoever.

The poster at Macy’s has HELLO KITTY on it! Does that mean she’ll be making her debut as a balloon this year? No seriously? Is she? I went and looked on the official parade site and there’s no mention of WHO will be there! If so… man she’s come a loooooooong way and I would love to see her float the streets and skies of NYC!!!

Lazy Sunday

November 11, 2007 – 3:35 pm

Not really, but kinda. I deserve it though. At least I think so.

The parties were good fun and it’s always nice to see my Ate and lil bro from college. As well as hang out with their parents’ and families, get caught up, and meet the keikis. Had some YUMMAY in the tummy Ro.und Tabl.e pizza and salad and then The Bee Movie in the East Bay. Headed home, rested a bit, filled our bellies. And then headed down to the South Bay for the other party @ Pum.p It. U.p. It poured down rain the entire time we drove to and from and here and there but it didn’t bother me none.

Today I’ve been doing laundry and uploading photos from the parties. Just kinda lounging around the house. Oh yeah I went thru the lilmissy’s smallish clothes and put them aside for now. Boy did that make a big dent in her clothes, but it makes a helluva difference when I’m trying to find her something to wear.

There are so many things I would love to stuff my face with at the moment: Hooter’s wings, a nice juicy steak, shrimps, mashed taters, cake, and/ or sushi… LoL… but we have NONE of those things in the house nor any plans to go out to eat. Phooey!.

*curling up with my fairy fleece blanket*

November 8, 2007 – 4:37 pm

Yes it’s MINE! Not hers! Mine!

It’s feeling more and more like fall over here, let’s hope it sticks! Soon we’ll have to add another blanket to the bed. Last night I even closed the window *gasp*. I hardly never ever do that. And I even pulled the blankies up to my neck.

I got a flu shot the other day, I’m the only one who got one, and somehow got my bedmates sick. Oopsie. Big mister has the stuffy head and so does lilmiss. Oh well better you than me ;) . Lilman is home free for now as he sleeps in his own room and his bed is the complete opposite wall of the house.

I’m really enjoying seeing Chris.tmas commercials but stressing out b/c we haven’t even hit that list, let alone made one yet. *sigh*

This weekend we’re double booked for double header birthday parties all around the Bay. One in the early afternoon in the East Bay for a 4 year old and his 2 year old sister. Then one in the late evening for an 8 year old and her 3 year old sister down in the South Bay. Nice thing is that with all the driving the kids are guaranteed some good napping. So they should be well rested for both parties. I’ve already got the gifts for those so we’re set. I just need to remember to bring the lilmissy’s ‘jammies for the ride home after the 8PM party, she should be passed out on the ride home.

So I’m sitting here trying to think of what’s for dinner. And I’m stumped. There’s a wee bit of leftovers sitting in there as well as some chicken breast tenders that I was trying to think of what to cook tonight. We’ve been eating healthy as of late. The past two nights I cooked up some brown rice, which is NOT a hard sell for the lilmiss by any means but the lilman, he’s a bit more difficult with that. Tuesday we had teriyaki chicken breasts and steamed brocolli. And yesterday we had broiled snapper fillets and steamed mixed veggies. I just don’t know what to do for dinner tonight *sigh* I hate this.

Lilmiss is calling from the toilet.

Mitsu-ken

November 5, 2007 – 10:57 pm

Okay if you ever tried Mitsu-Ken’s garlic chicken on the island of Oahu… you would know that it was the sh!t…. like as in good not bad! Imagine my surprise as I’m talking to my mom tonight and she tells me that the place is CLOSED. Like whaaaaaaaaaaaaat? NO! She said it’s been all over the news and papers over there, so I had to dig it up online. So wrong. So very, very wrong. I wonder if they’ll ever open again *sigh*.
